Extra burner rings ?

I have added 2 rings to my 502 and didn't really notice any diff. My test should have been a bit more scientific by trying to boil water method.

Made in USA 236

Hey Brent, I had some questions about my US made 236 last fall and as it turns out most folks don't think it came from the factory as I found it. In the end...who knows
http://...

288 vs. 286

Hey Ramaniac, your dual fuel pictured above is a 285 as the 282s were single mantle.
The 214, 282 and 286 founts are interchangable with one another and the 285 and 288s are interchangable with one another but these 2 families are surely different. 288 vs. 286

They do not use the same fount as the 288 tank has the valve centered and the 286 does not. I believe the valve stems are different length to accomodate the placement as well.

Cleaning 238B

Erwin, consider yourself extremely luck to have a 238B. To my knowledge they are very rare on this side of the globe and I am unsure if anyone else on this board has one....maybe one or two. Whenever I want to see a 238B I look in my green book or Terry Marsh's site.
Your collar alone looks great...

Vapalux mantles

Bruce you may want to try Britelyt's double tie mantles. They aren't expensive and shipping from FL isn't bad. I bought a pack to use on my Tilley and they work great.

236 US?

I apologize as I failed to mention that there is no date anywhere on this fount. Nothing near the stamping as you can see and there is no date on the bottom either.
Thanks for weighing in Terry!

236 US?

You have all introduced some great ideas about the origin of this lantern and right now my mind is running wild.
According to the posts above here are "THE FACTS"-
1. It has been confirmed that early US 237's had the same stamping as my fount.
2. The collar is identical to those on an early...

236 US?

Hi Jan, so you are saying that the collar I have is that same as were used on the Canadian 236 pre 1951? Or just that sometime before 1951 Canadian models began stamping collars from the inside.

236 US?

Ok, it seems I have started some discussion over the 236 and where it was made. I was of the belief that it was made in both Canada and the US because I have what I have always thought to be a US 236. I have a question - why the small fuel filler hole?

good question! If you look at those 242 tanks there really isn't too much room for a larger bung.

288 and 290 differences

Yes, the 288 and the 290 are only different in size, light output and badging...which sounds like a lot when I say it that way. For '85 I think the 288 was the CL2 and the 290 was the CLX which in '86 became the Powerhouse. I think the 288 dropped the CL2 in '86 as well.
