1D795496-4577-4551-A299-12B0B603304F.jpeg  Towns all over the east coast of Newfoundland in a state of emergency right now. Expecting 70-90 cm of snow by tomorrow morning with wind gusts hitting 150km/h.

Most snow we’ve seen here in years. At least we still have power but in the event we lose it I figure we’re well prepared with fuel, water, food, generator, Coleman stoves etc. Glad I just did some maintenance on the ole Ariens as she’s going to get a sick workout soon!

My sister sent me a video. Pretty crazy. She's stuck across town and can't get home to Mount Pearl. Everyone is being told to stay off the roads. I wish I was home to see it.

Did you stock up on your storm chips? I saw that term on Facebook yesterday for the first time ever.

A friend posted a pic of a huge long lineup at the cash register at a Dominion. I guess everyone was smart and actually thought about stocking up before the storm hit.

That is a YUGE storm by any standard - maybe 27 inches and winds around 70 mph +? Not for the faint at heart.

Keep the chimney/exhaust clear  and keep us updated.

I think it was Frankie MacDonald who coined that phrase about 5yrs ago then Covered Bridge, (Hartland, NB), capitalized on it.  I can't imagine wanting to see that storm up-close!  We're doing just fine here in Southern NB, (for now).
Stay safe Don!

You need some mold release on your door!

We have lucked out here so far. While the rest of the US NW has been pretty well closed off and on for the last week, we just had 60 knot winds and 45F for most of the week, then about 8" of wind-packed snow last night. Finally got to try my new snowblower!

Amazing how these events are so region specific. Living in an area that gets rap around  moisture routinely and having seen plus 50+ inches in 60 hours before, i can’t say but wow!
That scratcher blew threw here and was a disappointment!

Thanks guys for the comments. Been out for 7 hours shoveling and snowblowing the driveway but since the side streets haven’t been plowed there’s nowhere to go anyway. Amazingly we didn’t lose power though almost every street around us did. In a way it’s kind of nice to slow down as Saturdays are usually crazy busy with hockey, basketball, birthday parties etc. Staying at home and giving wider berth for emergency services is the priority for the next couple days for sure. Hats off to the First Responders, plow operators, and anyone else who are out in this mess.

Yes we keep the blower in the garage and had to punch our way out. I’d say the average depth on our driveway was 4 ft. Areas where snow drifted reached over my head and I’m 6’2”. Been talking with all my neighbours and thankfully everyone of them are doing ok but I have been hearing that lots of people are in a hard way.
