I don't have much faith in the descriptions I'm seeing for these hard shell carry cases.  I have a black one, and some sites say it is for the 220-series lanterns, but the fount of my 220F is too big for the base.  The black case does fit a 285 dual-fuel lantern well, though.  So, does anyone know what color case would fit a 220F?  Will any of these hard shell cases fit a 228 with the big hat?

Those later plastic cases were made in different colors for both the larger 295, 220F and later  size and the smaller 288, 285 size.  However I have not seen any teal colored ones for the larger size, but that does not mean none were made.  The smaller sized ones will also fit the 200A.   Have seen on the forum where members have modified these type cases to fit other lanterns.

The only plastic hard cases I know of that fit the 228 is the yellow clam shell case, but will only big hats 228F and later.  It also fits the 275.

Am I right in assuming they are all the same size for a given color, e.g. all the red ones are the same?

Thanks, I thought they were color coded, and was trying to figure out what fit what.  So much for that theory.

The green plastic ones fit the 288/285 and 200a size lantern. The red ones fit the 220/295 size lanterns. They are not big enough for a 228. You have to go to the yellow clam shell for those. There might be some green ones that do fit the 220/295 size. Those would have been in a lantern/Case combo pack. There are also some black ones out there that fit the 288. The silver ones were made for the black 290's to make them special! There is a small red one, that is for the Peak 1 backpacking lantern. There was a post out there not to long ago about these.

There are three sizes: small, medium and large.  The small ones only fit the backpacking lanterns: 222, 229, 226, etc.
The medium ones I have successfully fit: 288/286, 285, 200A (low hat 1964+), and a 242C without ball nut.
The large ones fit 220F and later, 290, 295, plus I have carried a L327 successfully.

I can't remember if there's a large teal version...[edit: there is, but it's called "green" and the color in the catalog is too dark to tell if it's the same, although I don't recall seeing a "green" like the old style can version.]

LOL. It’s easy to do. I read the entire thread and only realized it was old when I saw your post.
