74HARLEY
Tomorrow is going to be a very rough day at the Harley house, we are losing my 14 year old black lab. The wife and I could use a good pick me up, or two... Good jokes, whatever! Thanks

Sorry to read that.  Sad news indeed.

To start things off:

Two medical students were walking along the street when they saw an old man walking with his legs spread apart.
He was stiff-legged and walking slowly.

One student said to his friend:
"I'm sure that poor old man has Peltry Syndrome.
Those people walk just like that."

The other student says:
"No, I don't think so. The old man surely has Zovitzki Syndrome.
He walks slowly and his legs are apart, just as we learned in class."

Since they couldn't agree they decided to ask the old man. They approached him
And one of the students said to him,
"We're medical students and couldn't help
But notice the way you walk, but we couldn't agree on the syndrome you might have.
Could you tell us what it is?"

The old man said,
"I'll tell you, but first you tell me what you two fine medical students think."
The first student said, "I think it's Peltry Syndrome."

The old man said, "You thought - but you are wrong."

The other student said, "I think you have Zovitzki Syndrome."

The old man said, "You thought - but you are wrong."

So they asked him, "Well, old timer, what do you have?"

The old man said,
"I thought it was GAS - but I was wrong, too"

Our oldest Australian grandson shared this one with us last weekend:
Why is a Koala not a bear?
Because he doesn’t have the quala-fications.
I know it’s a groaner but we had a good chuckle and he was really cracking up!
It’s never easy, Joe but maybe the Harley family can find some comfort in knowing that you and your family were truly blessed, as was your lab, to have found each other 14 years ago.

So sorry to hear of your coming loss, I think sometimes pets are harder to lose than people.

A giggle:
An old man went into an ice cream shop, shuffling slowly and getting very gingerly on the counter stool.  As he was climbing onto the stool he ordered a banana split.  The girl at the counter writes down his order and asks, "crushed nuts?"  The man replies, "No, hemorrhoids."

True story from the instructor of a licensing class I took at Michigan State University in 1999.

"About a month ago I went on a fishing trip to Ireland. When I arrived I met up with my guide. He quickly drove us through a small town then we came to a stop - seems there was a road crew with barrier's up, stopping traffic for pot hole repairs. The men were mostly standing around leaning on their shovel's - much as we see here in the States. The driver looks back at me and in his full on Irish brough says, 'Isn't that precious, the boys are breast feeding their shovel's."

True.

Not a funny but thinking of your loss, Joe!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thanks guys, Murff that is a wonderful sentiment, today was very difficult but our Kellie is no longer in pain. She was recently diagnosed with bone cancer and was having a hard time the past two weeks. She was a great baby, we miss her dearly.

So sorry to hear of your loss - I'll light one up for Kellie tonight. It seems unfair that such loyal friends have such a relatively short time with us.

Hopefully this will bring a smile:

I'm sorry for your loss. My dogs are my children and when I lose one the pain is unbearable.
Hang on to the good memories and remind yourself what a good life you gave your companion.
There's another one out there in a shelter right now who needs you!

I too share your pain. I had to put down my best friend of 15 years. That was the hardest thing I have ever done. I waited almost 3 years before getting another dog. That was way too long without the love of a dog. I will light a lantern tonight. Keep her in your thoughts.

Sorry for the loss of your friend Joe.  Toughest part of being a pet owner.  If only most people were as cool as most dogs.  Sounds like she had a great run.
