I've got a wartime B project coming up in my pile of lanterns. It has been repainted at one point, actually close on color, I may see how it cleans up and see if it needs to be redone. My question is what is the correct decal for these? Is it the same as a C? Or all it's own? Thanks for the help and have a good evening.

No decal.  Maybe a stamp on the bottom for Canadian models.

Seen them on Marsh's site with decals... Others here as well.. Just can't read the printing on the decal to tell if it is the same as a C

If you're talking about a Steelie/220BX-type, it's the same decal. The different one was found on the first 220Ds.

The ones you see on Terry's web site with a decal are a BX and a C. The painted B's are a few lanterns above those and do not have decals. The decal on my BX is the same as the one that is on my 220 and 228 C's.

I should have been more specific, this is a 1943 220B, which was a steel fount US stamp on bottom typical for the time. I don't want to go down the B vs BX road as there are several opinions on the fact, but having said that, I've not seen another 1943 B without a decal (not seen them all of course), so according to that looks like I need to grab me another C decal...

yes decal. US. maybe not all but most.
Painted 220B and BX are the same lantern. The intended market and the box differ. So do the instructions. The guy that knows is Larry, Coleman54. He can take the shortcut and fill you in. no need to go "down that road". It's been closed to through traffic.

My painted B has a brass fount and no sticker, and if I remember correctly has no model stamp on the collar.  I always thought the steel fount B or BX or whatever one wants to argue they are had stickers.

I believe you are correct. What is the date on your B?

Here's the decal on an 8/43 B/BX with a steel fount.  It appears to be the same decal that is on my 5/45 and B/46 220C's

It has a 2 and a 3 on the bottom, so March 1942 I think.  No steel parts, nickel plated collar and brass fount.  Must have been the earliest stage of war time rationing.

Yeah, looking through pictures I see 1942s with and without the decal, not sure if there was a transition or just a short break between sub models. Coleman had several changes throughout the 40s on all there models... I'm sure related to the war effort. Thanks for the insight on yours. Still learning something new everyday.

here is the last thread on the 220B/BX from Larry:
https://www.colemancollectorsforum.com/post/is-it-really-a-bx-lantern-or-not-10283376?pid=1309667275&highlight=220b+bx

Also from Larry regarding when the decal appeared:
Dan, some stamped 2/11 have the decal and some don’t, every once in a while there is a lantern found with a later date with no decal so who knows if they slipped through without one or it could have been carefully removed when new leaving no shadow ???
