I had a Coleman 427 with an external pump arrive last Friday. There was no globe and no vent. Now I know this has been posted before about using a 220E vent. Some suggestions were to bend the tabs that hold the bail down so no modification had to be made on the vent. My frame does not have tabs that hold the bail. I have a 220e and test fit the vent on the 427 frame and it interfered with the bail being lifted up. Then the choice is cutting the vent but I don't know if I can do that with my shaky hands. Is there a third choice other than hopefully finding a 427 vent. I don't have a spare 220E vent but oldcolemanparts has one that is in two pieces. He also has 220F vents but I don't know the differences between the two. rsz_1rsz_20200707_114906-1.jpg

I took a beater 220E vent and used a air powered cut off wheel freehand with good results... I do use those cutoff tools regularly tho. I'll try to get a picture shortly

Here it is:

That looks great. Your 427 looks better than mine since mine has a pound of dirt and a big dent by the pump.

Thanks kind of looks funny with that green vent to me. This is more what it should look like...

Yes that looks better and I do have a 427 with the correct vent. I figure it is going to be hard to find the correct vent. Better to have the wrong hat than no hat at all

Yeah I seen your post, inspired me to give it a shot on a vent I had nothing to lose on. I was happy with the results. Still need to protect the bare steel part with some high temp paint.... But I probably won't ðŸ˜
