A new site for the 2020 Columbia River gathering of PNW Chapter on July 18 has been secured. Formerly in Kalama Washington, at the home of Old Coleman Parts, the gathering has moved about 14 miles north to Hudson-Parcher County Park, a campground of Columbia County, Oregon, a few miles west of Longview off Highway 30.

Reserved for the gathering is a covered picnic area for the group, and there are several RV and tent sites nearby for individuals to reserve on their own. Columbia County Parks Department has set aside, near this covered picnic site, over a dozen tent sites and several RV sites with electric and water hook ups. These sites are normally reserved only through the Reserve America online reservation system, but the County has pulled these sites for sixty days to allow our members to make reservations directly with the County. Any unused sites will be put back into the reservation system for public consumption about November 1. Reserving with the county will save the $8 transaction fee charged by Reserve America. One may still reserve after November 1, through Reserve America, providing sites are available.

The campground has good shade, level sites, a shower house, restrooms, a camp host selling firewood, playgrounds for kiddies, is pet friendly, and an RV dump for park guests. If an RV site with full hook ups is desired there will be some available, just not in the area set aside for us, but very close.

Message me with your email address and I'll send you full info on reserving.

Columbia County has released the hold on sites in our gathering area, which is a covered picnic site near "the cabin" and site 28, for reference. Campsite reservations should be made through reserveamerica.com .

The 2020 Columbia River gathering of PNW Chapter on July 18 is still on. I have spoke with Columbia County Parks personnel and at this time there are no restrictions for groups smaller than 25 and it will probably be more lenient come July 18. We would like those attending to follow common sense and your own comfort level to help limit spread of the covid virus.
That said, there will be space for sale items, and while there are 3 large picnic tables in the covered picnic area we are requesting those that can bring tables for their sale items to do so, perhaps canopies if you have them. I do not believe a group dinner that normally occurs Saturday should take place, but that is open to debate. My thoughts are to make it a potluck and limit group cooking at the covered picnic area, and to utilize the picnic tables for gathering for a potluck meal, fettling, and light ups. Of course, we will have our light up for the evening.
I intend to bring some GPA stoves and a charcoal grill, maybe a profane one too, and if anyone wants to use them for cooking you are welcome to. I am also trying to line up a guest speaker or two.
Several of us have reserved for both Friday and Saturday, and I see there are still campsites available through Reserve America near our reserved covered picnic structure. I will be in #28. There are also full RV hookups across the creek from our area.
Remember, this is open to the public so spread the word. I hope to see you there.

While the covered picnic area we are gathering at is not considered an enclosed, indoor space by Columbia County Parks, wear your mask if you will be within 6 feet of another participant. Update from Oregon Health Authority: Effective today.... New Statewide Rule: As of July 15, face coverings are also required in outdoor public spaces when physical distancing is not possible.
