This was weird day for sure. I went out just spend some time with my fiancé. She collects Pyrex dishes, so it works good for me that way. She looks for Pyrex, I look for GPA’s. We decide to stop at a shop that I have purchased some very nice stuff from before. We walk in the door, I look up and there it is, a Ann Arbor Arc Lamp! Made by Superior Manufacturing Company. I wave over the owner of the shop and have him pull the lamp down so I could check it out. I look at the price and offered him what I wanted to pay him. And now I am the proud owner of a Ann Arbor Arc Lamp. Parts that I am needing to find to complete this lamp are the globe, fiber valve knob, and the smoke bell. Everything else is complete. No dents or dings. Not bad for a lamp that is 114 years old. The japanning is amazing.

Here are some pre cleanup pictures to enjoy. Thanks for looking

PS: This lamp was found and I was not aware of Greg’s Arc Lamp thread until after him and I discussed this lamp over the phone. That is what is the weirdest part of my day.

Update: went out to the lantern shed this morning to fire up this Arc Lamp. Lightly cleaned up a few things, put some fuel in it, pumped it up, and now we have fire. This lamp is extremely easy to operate if you have any common sense. I am currently waiting on my order of mantles for the real test. Will update more then. Basically that should be ok. However, it doesn't apply to me. When I go to Jerry's meet I hit as many antique malls as possible before and after but the result is mostly very poor. :-((

Pls. see navigation on HP for Collectors Maps.
Finally got some mantles to properly light the Arc Lamp. I had to make a new mantle holder as the original was broken. Did a test fit and then lit the burner. Looked so good I added a half frost globe to dim the light some. This lamp is rated at 700cp. Will need to get it cleaned up better to see if I can get it brighter.

Got a smoke bell from CrazycamperGreg. Need to straighten it out more but it will fit perfectly on the lamp. Thanks for looking. That is great.   Can't wait to get mine fixed.   "The Cheese" is working on a part for mine. I know the scrolls should be on the inside.  I have an ad for these somewhere.

You've given me incentive to get back to this one. (or get it to someone that can get it going!)

(not sure why the picture is rotated, not that way on my  computer)
