A single strand of bicycle brake cable. Make sure you cut it square

Perfect pricker for what?  GPAs use different size pricker wires.

Also, what brand of brake cable?  I would imagine different manufacturers use different diameter wire to make up their cables.

Ditto...

I've got a couple of gauges of mandolin wire (from take offs) that are the right sizes for different things.  Some orifices are as small a .005,  and can go up from there.  (Profane may be even smaller but profane does not generally need a pricker...)

Do a forum search for "guitar wire" and you will probably find info on various wire sizes. Seems many of the ~7" wire brushes have ~.005" bristles.

Sorry I forgot to mention for cleaning a Mil-Spec.
I’ve never encountered different size wire strands in bicycle brake cables. I only remember getting stabbed in the finger by the strands. OUCH!
