Last week I was really debating making a 3 hr trip to get that lot of 43 lamps.  I was actually dreading it but I had the day off and me and my youngest decided to take the adventure.   I haven't started processing the lamps yet as that is a big job but today I dusted off the lanterns that came with the lamps and I am extremely happy I went!  Some real beauties.....

THE NICKLE QUARTET...

L-R:
7/28 quick-lite.  No globe or vent but great shape.
4/48 Major 236 with correct globe.
8/48 Empire 237. Has a fix near filler...not sure I would trust this to lite it.
12/50 242B. Nice condition.

THE SEAFOAM SISTERS...

47/4 Empire 237.  Really nice and hard to come by lantern for me.
47/2 Scout 247.  Looks like top was painted some horrible color.

THE ODD BALL

1022 AFC.  Nice shape but not coleman so I am clueless on age and everything else.  Will be for sale.

THE COLORFUL

Standard 200 with a sparker.
621A.  Dont know how to age them.

...and a 288A with a black carry case.

This lot also had a nice stove 6/68.

What a fantastic day and some real great lanterns to fill in my collection or trade/sell.  I guess moral of the story is to just go for it.  I will be slowly going through the lamps that filled my trailer and offering sales in the future.

Take care and happy hunting.

Yes actually it is in really good shape but my first slant so it is a bit out of the comfort zone.

No biggie. Just watch the fuel/air tube clocking if you have to disassemble. I had a post awhile back that should have some pictures disassembled I think. Should be lots of info on here to help along the way.

I'm just glad he didnt crush these for the recycler as was his plan.  He said he was giving  it one more week.  That would have been sad.  Makes a guy wonder how many get crushed up or thrown out.

I am a huge fan of nickle but the old seafoam color may be my fav.  The 237 in seafoam is a real nice lantern but looks a little beat up.  Hopefully will get him running.

Is the slant a 220 or 228?

Check for stress cracks. They're prone to them.

The AFC is AshFlash model 1022 and probably from the 1970s. Has to be after the company name changed to the AshFlash corportion in 1969 and to at least 1975 which was the latest advert I could find. ::Neil::

I am assuming it is a 220 as the bail seems to be standard size for a smaller vent.  Am I assuming correctly that the 228 would have the wide bail to accommodate the wider vent?  Not sure how else to tell which is which.

Still in the trailer but I will get to it soon.
