Hello all, new member here. Looking for some information on this lantern. It was still new in box, with all original parts including storage box and instructions. Lantern itself is flawless, but I do not know a ton about this one. Searching eBay, I only found one of the same lantern only in only decent shape, and has been refurbished with a couple non original parts. There are 91 watchers and several bidders with two days left and it is currently at $280 with about $70 extra for shipping. Do I have something special on hand? Appreciate any feedback. Pics right now are not of my lamp, I will load those later when I get home ted2.jpg

A unfired Ted would be a  Extremely Nice lantern. With luck like that I bet you probably have one of the other two unaccounted for 216’s kicking around somewhere lol

[welcome], Jason, from Pennsylvania! A "Red Ted" is a fine looking lantern, especially when like new, and you have something many collectors wish they had in their collection.  If it is your first lantern, you're off to a fine start!

Yeah you may as well stop collecting right now. Chances of finding anything as good as that ever again are unlikely. Just kidding...you never know what's around the next corner but you are off to a heck of a start. Super nice one.

That is a nice specimen indeed.
Personally I feel these are the cream of the crop of the post Korean war models of all GPA lanterns! These were sold only through the Sears company and were far fewer in numbers than the more expensive/collectible GB. And they were only made in 11/65,11/67. [Ive never saw a '66}  Better materials also. I know a fellow who has 3 of'em complete and nice, and another project on his bench.
Thanks for sharing,

Congrats on a great find!  You mention that the picture in your post is not of your lantern.  Can you post some pictures of what you have, including the box and instructions?  New-in-box is always fun to see...

I have never fired it. I do believe it has been fired in the past but if it was, it was not used much. I may have just been from testing it at the factory but I see signs that it was lit at some point.
