I found this cool handmade case at the swap meet this morning. Very well designed and crafted. I love the Daisy pellet tin attached to the door for mantle storage. I was surprised to find a newer lantern inside because the case is much older. For $10 I had to bring it home.

$10 well spent.  The hinge latch is very cool.  I'll have to remember that.

Nice score, Scott!  I have a hard leaving behind anything that resembles a lantern case.  Yea, I would have thought the lantern would be an older one as well but you can’t beat it for a 10-spot.

I'd also have brought it home too, Scott, but that one was made for you, having that tin inside the door (since I remember your pellet gun collection.)

Thats a great wooden case design.  Might use that one myself to gobble up some walnut ply I have laying around.

Great case!  I like the tin, but the hinge converted to a latch is also cool!

I'd get a period correct lantern in there!

I have been to sales were a newer Lantern is in an old custom case in the garage only to find the old Lantern down in the basement.  I imagine when some people buy a new Lantern the reuse the old case.

My homemade case one of my Aidas came in is my favorite. I'm going to try to copy it when I get some time. This is the only pic I have and I can't seem to fix this sideways business. It gets me on other sites too.0503201055a_compress11.jpg

That’s a pretty nice storage/carrying case. I really like the ones that have the door on the front, too.

Someone sure was creative and very resourceful when they gathered the bits and pieces to build that one. Made do with what was on hand and that makes it even cooler!

That's a nice one.  I love how folks get creative with the cases.  Front door versions are my favorite.  What mantles are in the pellet can?

Front door models with a full height door have the drawback of the door not being able to swing open on a non-flat surface.  This design handles that with the thick base which is clever.

I put thick feet (slider type) on my combo box (Pantry on one side, lantern, spare fuel and 2 SEVA 123 class stoves plus spare parts on the other), partly for that reason.
