And of course there's only one way to christen a new stove and start the weekend the right way 🙂 20190511_104654-800x450.jpg now to decide whether to fit a windshield or use an external folding one, cardboard isn't classy enough and possibly a little risky lol

Happy days here

I made a windscreen for my 500A out of old thick copper flashing from my roof.

I've never felt I needed a windscreen on my 500.

Nice stove. You've christened it in style.

Yes I concur that stove and breakfast looks phenomenal. Might have to replicate that situation tomorrow morning here on the east coast of the US.

Are those your chickens?  What breed?
Are they aware of what you are cooking in the fry pan?

Cheers everyone, loving the 500 (well love all new to me gpa's lol)
What can't be seen is how strong some of the breeze gusts were, so will consider a windshield for outdoor use.
Chickens are Orpingtons, started with 3 hens and a rooster, sold about 15 new ones late last year and currently have 18, so need to sell a few again lol

I don't have time to look it up right now, but this windscreen was ~$20 US from Azon:

The 500 is my favorite stove, hands down. At least 'til I get done fettling my new 500A... but nickel....

That's a killer breakfast, Andrew.  I'll be right over for breakfast tomorrow.  Only takes 24 hours from east cost of USA (state of North Carolina)

I really like my Model 2 for home outdoor cooking, but it seems like I "need" to get a 500(A). Time to start looking. Nice stove.

Steve, get a 500 (a) they rock.
Timm, it was the pics you posted that made me think folding, but I do like the built ones like Eric's.
Courtnay, we're not flash people but you and any fellow members are welcome here, but I need more than 24hrs notice so that I can arrange excess baggage costs for all the bargain gpa's offered here that need to be stuffed into a suitcase and helped to a new home down under 🙂

Nice looking brekkie, Andrew! The 500 stoves are great runners as you are finding out.  If you decide to install an onboard wind screen, consider fabricating the screen to go over the generator thus preventing heating up of the valve wheel  I need to add a piece to mine because the wheel on mine tends to get a bit warm.

Not pushing anything here, but what I prefer about the big folding windscreen is that it covers the entire area from the burner to the top of the skillet. I tried a shorter version--like that shown above but cruder--and less heat made ot from the top of the grate to the skillet in the breeze.

I need to make something to hold the folder to the steel table, as it tends to wander around in the breeze. Magnets to the rescue, again.

Love the 500/500A stoves! Great for using larger cast iron. Windscreens do help, I made some for mine. [UV6QFDl]

Nice windshields guys, I'll definitely be doing something as today I took the 500 out fishing to provide some hot snacks and cofree.
Nothing flash, dumplings for mid morning snack with coffee first, which was to be followed by burgers in CI pan for lunch, but we had our limit before lunch and headed back 🙂
Even the 5kt breeze slowed the heating of the water just a little, using a hand to shield burner made a difference,  so will make one or get a folding one.
Great day fishing again!

Day just keeps getting better, home 10 minutes and doorbell rings with a mail call..... I do believe this will be my new 4M....with cast iron burners....

That stove couldn't of gone to a better guy!  🙂
I made a windscreen for my user 500 that looks similar to the one Chucker made. Works well and looks good.
