Picked up a 1/74 639 (my first kero) recently and figured that I would strip it and repaint.....after I stripped it I liked the steel so much that I've left it as is....wax only. Maybe will clearcoat it eventually. The check valve and stem were missing when I bought it so I installed a new one with a file that I picked up at a local thrift store as it fit the slot perfectly. Stuck a pair of visegrips on the file and a couple of minutes later my check valve was installed....much easier than I thought! (635 with pinholes on left😕)20200824_165908resize.jpg  20200824_171726resize.jpg  20200903_163359resize.jpg  20200903_163511resize.jpg  20200903_181548resize.jpg  20200907_091607resize.jpg  20200907_201929resize.jpg  20200908_210219resize.jpg  20200909_095839resize.jpg

That bare steel looks pretty nice, Bill! Some time ago, a member here polished a steel fount very nicely, and it looked great.  Who it was and where the post is I have long forgotten, sorry! They did clear coat it, or waxed it, as I recall.

In case you have trouble with the file and vise grip method, you won't regret purchasing this tool:

Nice 👍🏻 I like the steel fount look. I think through a clear coat on it and call it done.
