Picked this beauty up, looks like a hasag or petromax with the looped burner. The vent is chip free and the nickle looks like it’s going to clean up very nice. Must not have spent much time around the coast and salt water.

James lee co, model 850 looks like it was made in Buenos Aires.

Still had the original wrench and spare parts

the seller had a price tag that was much cheaper then a 288 and 635 but who’s to argue, they know that Coleman’s sell quick around here so guess they didn’t see the value in this one.

This is a re-badge or clone of a Volcan model 850 which is a 500cp kero lantern. There were a considerable number of different brand names for these sold in Argentina but most were made by Cuareta y Cia. in Buenos Aires. As they were never sold outside Argentina they are all rare anywhere else. This is a brand name I was not aware of so yet another one to add to the list. A very nice find . ::Neil::

Nice find!

Send me the measurements of that pump ball--shaft size and OD. It looks an awful lot like the ones we have on our party taps and I keep a few extras on hand.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

They were at least 4 different lantern brands manufactured in Argentina that I have heard and been told,  and another pretty rare made in Chile.

Including this James Lee I have 90 different brands listed for Argentina and maybe another half dozen for the rest of South America. The vast majority are re-badged Volcan or Radiosol but there factories making Petromax types such as Aurora and Cannon. What I don't list is any lamp brand made in Chili so that would be good to see some evidence of please. ::Neil::
