Freed this stuck valve stem on the rusted out slant this afternoon. It was crunching when I opened and closed it so I figured I'd disassemble it and see what was in there.. It was full of rust from who knows where and it appears there should be a valve stop pin? I can't find a breakdown anywhere and I've never had my other two apart this far. Can anyone confirm that this is a stop pin? Thanks for the help.

Well appears my phone or internet is having issues uploading this evening. I'll try again shortly.

Still not working but know you can not open either of my slant valves too far.

I don’t suggest you try to hot swap the t shirt!

Thank you!

That's a good illustration Kevin, but I'm not seeing anything on the stop pin pictured. Once the picture issue is fixed I think it'll make sense. I think it's pinned like the early air-o/quicklites it's just that I believe this one has rusted away?... Idk pictures would help ðŸ˜

I have a box with slant parts I’ll look for it in the morning.

Thank you!

I’ll look again tonight but am assuming it has a pin. Will yours open to  the point of disassembly?

Thank you!

Thanks Kevin, I can probably make a new pin for this one.. but I'd like to see the breakdown of these valves.. this was plumb full of rust and I believe there may still be a bushing in the valve housing hard to tell.

i have used just the right size nail heads to get on the other side of the ring and pull it towards ya

I believe it's going to take a bit more than a good pull. I had a punch I fished through the assembly backwards and arched towards the ring, mounted in a vise and tapping on it with a hammer.... Nothing. I couldn't even get it to move further in. I'll probably give it another citric soak just to make sure all the rust is cleaned up. If I can keep from messing up the valve assembly I can always make another ring.. But I'll do my best to save it first.

Okay, back to work on this project today. I ended up milling out the pin in the valve shaft as I was afraid of damaging the little shaft, then give up on getting the bushing out, so I milled that as well. Made a new pin and a bushing. How's this look @SteveRetherford? It appears to work like it's supposed to. Shuts off, and stops open.

Nice work Toby. If you need any of those pins that are too short I have a bunch. Every time I make one it takes about tree trys to get the right length. I'm not smart enough to measure a good one and remember he length.

😁😂 I can relate to that Dominic. I got lucky on this one and got it the first try. This had to be one of the most difficult valve assemblies I've ever worked on. I suppose from sitting with water in it for so long, and also not being able to grab a spare part from my parts cabinet if need be. These are not exactly 220Fs
