 here is a good diagram of model 117 lamp showing the two different pick up desighns . if its not already anywere else on the board this is a good diagram to keep somewere . then the L220 L228 break down showing the original cleaning rod and needle on the lantern

thanks Steve, I will print those out. None of my Slants has ever had the built in tip cleaner, some day I guess I might find one. Does the valve wheel look different? how do you spot one?
