Sorry for the delay on information regarding the Fall Gathering folks, the past two weeks since the Huntsville Gathering have been completely crazy. For those wondering, we have decided to have the Fall Gathering at Elijah Clark State Park (2959 McCormick Highway Lincolnton, GA 30817) and have narrowed down two weekends and wanted to get some additional feedback from the group and coordinate that with the park to reserve a loop.  The weekends are 10/26-10/28 or 11/2-11/4.  Please feel free to PM me if you have additional questions or have other suggestions.  Look forward to seeing everyone again this year!

Thanks,

Troy

Either one is good for me at this point.

Just a note, I slid past this post many times because of the title.

Ever since I've been going it's been called the South East gathering, then the ICCC South East gathering after it got big. (kind of miss the days when it was just some Coleman guys camping together).

I'm just wondering if I'm not the only one who missed it.  I would have expected a lot more replies.

Good question. We have always enjoyed VMSP and it's not a terrible drive from Florida.

I've never been to a fall gathering, just the spring one in Tennessee.  Missed the Spring gathering this year, had to take care of some family business.  Really looking forward to this one.  Do the camp sites at this park need to be reserved ahead of time?

Sorry for the delay, a decision has been made on the date and location for the Fall Gathering.  The official gathering is Sat, Nov 3rd at Elijah Clark State Park.  There was a delay in the information because the campground manager was out on vacation and I was trying to get the group all placed in the same loop.  The other part of this, is the park is going to start site specific reservations starting in Sept.  If we can all go ahead and register for camping, I have the group form and they are going to try and get as many of us as they can all placed together.  Please use the following link listed below to reserve your site and let me know so we can put a list together for the park.  Price per night is $32 for power and water.  I am currently working with on the price with the campground to see if I can get that lowered due to the group size and potential attendance.  You are only required to pay for the first night when you register and can settle us when you arrive.  Please let me know if you have any other questions.

https://gastateparks.reserveamerica.com/campsiteFilterAction.do?sitefilter=ALL&startIdx=0&contractCode=GA&parkId=530151

Also, to answer some questions on why we aren't using VMSP and Red Top this year.  Last year (At VMSP) they had a band at the local Bar and grill that is attached to the campground that played until roughly 1:30-2am.  Why I enjoy some music and fun while at the gatherings I could hear them clearly and I was as far away from them as you could get at the campground.  As for Red Top, there were some concerns a couple years ago with being able to easily get around the park between sites and facilities were spread out for the size of the group.  I enjoy both of these parks and would camp either again, but they presented challenges for the group.  We are sorta spoiled with the Spring Gathering in Hartford.  That location is amazing for our group and Reese makes our lives very easy there.  Moving the gathering in the Fall we also feel like has made it easier for folks to attend in different regions and also allows the group to experience some different campsites.  Again, please let me know if there are any additional questions, always happy to take constructive input.

Thanks,

Troy

Yeah!  We'll be there.

Thanks, Troy for putting in the work.

Those of us who all too often sit on our thumbs (talking about myself, folks) sometimes fail to appreciate the work that goes into putting together a gathering of any size.

Hats off to you, Webb, Scott, and our founding forefather Ed the Lund monkey as well as the important backup assists from Lewis, Chris, Greg and unnamed others.

Just floating an idea here... I see they have a "Pioneer Campsite" that can be rented for $35 a night. It says they require a minimum of 10 people for it and allow for a maximum of 50 people. For the tent camper folks that could translate to a pretty affordable campground stay.

For anyone that has reserved and is getting emails from the campground about them moving to site specific spots, I am going to contact the park in the morning.  If you would like to update them, please request Campground 2.

I the. Will post it here so those who haven't reserved yet can look at it and try and camp close to folks if u like. I know some of us night owl guys are going to try and camp close together lol. I've got word that allot of folks have received a message from campground telling them which site from there preference is reserved. Those that haven't t heard u may have to call.

Waiting on the OK from Troy and have already gotten the green light from Webb, these fellas have very full plates right now so a few of us are going to take a bit of the work load off these guys. Thank you Blake for handling the campground layout and map!.                             I just reserved site 102 this morning and had no issues doing it. As Troy said, they are now taking specific site reservations online or by phone. If you look at the campground map "campround 2", youll notice its somewhat heart shaped. The sites on the right upper section of the heart are not quite as spread out. This is where we expect it to be busy- the 'night owl' section if you will, as Blake said. As anyone who has attended gatherings will tell you, the night owl section does not mean a bunch of hooting and hollering, loud music and people running around naked til sun up. (The gatherings are 90% male, nobody wants to see that[laugh]  What they WILL tell you is the night owl section stays up til well past 2am normally, emptying coolers, lighting and dialing in lanterns, telling off color jokes, and although the noise is kept relatively low except for the occasional laughing out loud, if you want some peace and quiet and a good night's sleep in darkness, you may want to avoid this section. Please keep this in mind when reserving a site, we dont want to ruin anyones idea of a great gathering!

Also- there WILL be another 'beater' contest, and I am building another rat rod lantern for the winner. Attendees AND participants can judge. The rules are simple:
1. It must be complete, including globe, mica or screen, and mantle(s)
2. it must hold pressure and produce light while on display. Pumping up is ok.
A super rough, as found original is going to get more votes than anything purposely built to look crappy.

Just wondering so maybe I could hitch a ride between hotel/park some of the time.

Just reserved site number 95. Should get in late afternoon on Friday. Wife plans to come with. Only her second time camping and her first Coleman event.

The site looks huge in pics. Would be open to a site-mate if it is as big as it looks.

I just happen to notice someone is listed in the pic above in site number 101. On the reservation page it shows that site open. I wonder if the reservation went wrong or they were mislabeled on the site map above. Might wanna look into that. I'd hate for them to show up on the wrong date!

Quick update:  We have the picnic shelter in Campground 2 for the festivities Saturday.  The park has also been nice enough to offer up some tables that will be at the picnic shelter.  There has also been some discussion of having chili and/or stew for the main dishes on Saturday.  Felt like that would resonate well, especially if we get some cooler weather.  Thoughts/suggestions??

Alright fellas, looks like a cluster-F for saturdays dinner haha, that will be fun!. Pot luck it is, and a stew cookoff for those who want to join. You know the rules- we better see a lot of dutch ovens over fires, coals, or cook stoves!
We need a list of folks who can bring the usual- plates, bowls, silverware, drinks, etc....
Will cross post this on the face book pages and try to keep in sync, so check back for updates and Ill get a list generated.
