I picked up a Sears Black over Red 476.74070 lantern (6/63)and just got around to cleaning it up.  I found that this one had this plated valve body on it.  It doesn't appear to be nickle, maybe zinc or cadmium?  Shines up nicely but not like nickle.
This is the first plated valve body I've seen in over 200 lantern tear downs.
I have the same model lantern in Black over Blue and it is just a plain brass valve body (6/67).  How many years did they plated these?

I had one of those in a beat up 220. The valve was like new so I figured it was a replacement someone had stuck in through the years, but not positive of that.
