I'm going to be needing a decal for a 3/69 Sears black and blue. The one I'm seeing on ocp looks like a clear background. On all the lanterns I've seen pics of the background looks green. Are they just faded. Or it will look that way when I put it on.

Pics would be great.

Also. How the heck can an otherwise new looking lantern have the decal just missing, gone with out a trace.  The fuel cap is clear on the other side. What happens to them. I gotta know,,,lol.

OCP decal. Is this the correct decal for the lantern below.

Nice pic.

So has the first one on the left had it's decal changed? Looks clear while the others look green.

Yes, it looks to me like the left one has a new decal (Thats the way I got it).
I wonder if anyone makes a decal with a yellow tinted background so it would look green on a blue lantern ?

Look up. 502 gave a link to get them on ebay. I just ordered one.

BTW. I'm not 100% sure which style I need as far as the pointed or round. But I'm fairly sure by looking at pics I need the pointed for my 3/69. Can you confirm this by the date on yours. Or is it a model number thing.  My model number is 476.722212

I've never seen a Sears decal with a green background on a lantern.
Only with a clear background.
They turn yellow with age.
The one you showed first, that Mike has, is the correct one.

That style, shown in the first photo, 476.72212 was made between 1968 and 1970 and came with the Chevron type decal (pointed).

Anything earlier (in the 220 size, small black vent, 476.74060) came with the round decal.

I don't recall the dates on these two, but late '60s would be in the ball park:

its just the clear has yellowed over the blue making it appear green . thats just how it goes with original waterslide verses peel n stick , not exactly the same thing . thats like why there is nothing like ORIGINAL !!!

Sorry if I stirred you in the wrong direction. I guess I saw that one on eBay a couple days ago and just assumed it was what you needed.

It's possible that the lantern with the "green backed" decal was originally an avocado that someone masked off and painted blue.

I'm ready to put the pointed decal on it. I know it's not super critical, but can someone give me a measurement from the bottom of the fount to the top of the most upper white straight line. Thanks.

For that authentic look, make some cuts in the decal and mount it slightly crooked. 😉

Put a work boot on one foot and barefoot on the other, wear a blindfold and spin around 20 times, then place on fount. This method will be closer than the Coleman plant, ever did.🤣🤪.campinut.
