So our receptionist at work has known about my lantern addiction for a while now. This morning first thing she walks into my office and sets a lantern on my desk and says "here you go". I look up and see a sea foam green 242b." What's this" I ask? Apparently her boyfriend likes to go to the local auctions and this came in a box of stuff he bought for $10.00. He told her to take it to work and give it to her boss.

Canadian 242b in sea foam green dated A-46. Not something you see around here. And in really nice shape. Complete with a late 60's red sunrise globe. Even had a full tank of Coleman fuel so I pumped it up and it lit right up. Didn't seem to burn as bright as it should so I will be doing a good clean up on it and get it back to full power. For sure needs a cap gasket and need to find the correct ball nut. Anyone know where to find one that won't cost an arm and a leg?
Going to be away at the lake for 5 days so won't be able to do anything with it for a while but I'll make sure I post after shots when it's done.

I know I will probably buy it from old coleman parts but the 242 nuts are 3 times the price of the other stiles. Was hoping he might have an original aged one for sale that would better match the lantern.

Man oh man that’s a nice looking one as well. You need to give her a raise for that one.

Super sweet lantern.  That was quite thoughtful of the executive assistant to remember her boss’s hobby.

Well finally got some time to fettle this thing and here it is. Ended up digging deeper than I thought I would need to as the fount was full of crud and the fuel air tube was pretty dirty. Sucked up some crud and plugged the generator tip and ended up bending the rod tip trying to clean it so had to sort that out but in the end it seems to work beautifully.
Definitely a new favorite. 20200703_214814_resized.jpg  20200703_214931_resized.jpg  20200703_215004_resized.jpg  20200703_215159_resized.jpg  20200703_211746_resized.jpg  20200703_211905_resized.jpg  20200703_212808_resized.jpg  20200703_214042_resized.jpg
