Picked this one up on Monday. 
Gave it a good clean inside and out. Loaned a bail, gave it a better vent, changed the filler cap. Gave it a globe and mantle and fired it up.

The "incorrect fuel cap" was often fitted to kerosene models, to provide adjustment of lantern brightness/output. 

N.B.  Only works safely with kerosene/paraffin lanterns/stoves.
          
Look at the Coleman Solus, for example.
