I have a friend who has a booth in a local antique mall, and I stop in every once in a while to snoop around. I walk all the aisles and look high and low for Coleman stuff and today I found this tucked away in a basket with some old RR lanterns.20200902_142511_copy_756x1008.jpg 20200902_142538_copy_756x1008.jpg 20200902_142518_copy_756x1008.jpg
I checked the valves and pump and nothing was seized up, so I went and asked if they could wiggle on the price a little bit since the globe is chipped. We agreed, and I walked out with my first red Coleman.

I spent the afternoon cleaning it up in a citric bath and replaced the generator  I'm very pleased with the results. The brass looks great under the vent (I'll add a pic tomorrow)- I wasn't expecting brass under all that soot.

for nothin’,if they did call me that.

Nice score, Adam!  I like the 200A because it’s easy to work on and can sure throw the light.

Thanks guys, she was really easy to work on. Now I just need to find a globe that's not cracked/chipped. That amber one on OCP is kinda expensive... Is it period-accurate for a '62?

The amber globes were after-market. Supposed to not attract bugs, but I prefer the whiter light of a clear globe.

OCP has plain MIC 550 globes for around $10, IIRC.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

That’s a nice one! Hard to beat those redheads. Glad you finally got your first red 200. What type of mantle did you use on it? It puts off some nice light.

It's an old Silk Lite 21 I had on hand. I have to replace it, though. I have a small fuel leak in the curved tube in the FA assembly.

It's pretty easy to remove the burner tube without destroying the mantle. I've done it many times, mostly with success, even though my fingers don't always do what I tell them to. You just need a 5/8" open-end wrench.

Put some muffler paste or wood stove gasket cement on those joints and they'll never stink again.

Thanks gunhippie, but it's a little late. I cleaned it up and tied a Peerless on. She's even brighter now I think.

But if you don’t ever buy any chips, you can have just zero
