Do you have a 202 lantern? I am helping to gather info on 202's with a person who shall remain anonymous. (Mr T.M) Looking for the dates of your lanterns, for a data base. Especially interested in the duel date lanterns (side and bottom) From ? till 1958. But I would like to hear of all month and years to help with an overall idea of manufacture. You can post here or PM me. Thanks Tim

I have two 202 models. One is double dated. It says 4-58 on the side of the fount and 58-1 on the bottom. Just in case you wondering, bottom stamping is in this order - 58-1. Year first, month second.
Second 202 I have is dated 8-57 on the side of the fount, and B stamp on the bottom.

Mine is 5/55, dated on the bottom; no date on the side.  Had one that was 11/54 that was the same.

One of my 202's is dated on the bottom with what I can only see as the year  54  no month. It has a steel bottom with like a galvanized wash to it. It is possible that the month may have been lightly stamped and covered by the wash but purely speculative. Ceramic burner cap

My other 202 is dated on the side under the stamped logo 5  59 and this one the bottom of the fount is plated brass I believe (non-magnetic). This one also has a "B" stamped on the bottom which I have been told means "BRASS"

Apparently 55-1 was a big month for the 202, I have one of those also, bottom stamp only.

Is that a side date only?

Glenn. The date is under there. If your are curious you can scrape with a flat X-acto blade and see it. I wanted to find the month on mine and did just that. You can see the faint 54 to the left of the month.

No, it wasn't from ebay. I got it at a flea market last summer for $10 .

1 side stamped 12 58 bottom stamped 1 58
2 bottom stamped only 1 55 and a ceramic burner cap.

Hope this is useful data.

Me thinks someone had idle time in Jan and just stamped bottoms knowing they'd be used shortly. Only to possibly get misplaced, found, and used almost a full year later.

Tim, I am not going to be as curious as you were. Upon really closer inspection, after seeing your pic, I looked at mine again and I think I see a 1. I doubt that it is a lone 1 and probably a 10/11 or 12 but again, without scraping the fount I think I can see a distinct 1 opposite 54 on mine

I have a 1955 coleman catalog with the 202 in it. According to the catalog, the steel bottoms on that year of 202 were hot tin dipped. That is what obscures the date which is on the bottom.

1-58, bottom marked only, 10-62, side marked only, and ?54 or 55? steel bottom as described above, marked on bottom only and barely readable.
