I received a Sears Avocado lantern USPS Priority and, as happens sometimes, the globe was broken.  How difficult is it to find an identical replacement globe?  (photo below is from internet)

Very hard as those are lantern specific. There is a Coleman replacement that is close to correct size ( not quite) that can be frosted.  Im guessing some one will have one here. Good luck in your search.

That's very helpful.  I've never had one of these types of Sears (1970's) and am still learning about them.  So the two lanterns I've got pictured don't have same globe?  Wow!  Just assumed they had the same.

I'm encouraged there's a near replacement that might be had.  I've posted to classifieds.  Fingers crossed.

Thanks!

Cool lantern!!  It’s one of my favorites. Yeah a globe like Toby showed it the best match. I think it’s a couple MM’s shorter or something. The globe came on a propane 5107 and a 5152. They occasionally show up on eBay.  6700400C-24B9-4507-8B82-862D9230558D.jpeg

not looking for any more Bday gpas. Honestly, if you have a 10-72 don’t let me know about it.

I have one like that too, decals are shot on it for sure. mine is from 5/77. looking at that lantern and my 275s, they look like the globes might interchange. my Sears avocado is a model 72325-1  2 mantel version. Its globe isn't frosted.
I used to have a blue Sears but cant find it.....  I left it at my parent's when I got married almost 30 years ago... Mom just gave me Dad's old Coleman 275 which was hanging no more than 2 feet from my blue Sears, the 275 was still there collecting dust but the blue Sears is MIA.

Thanks to you both for your help.  Really appreciated.  I'm going to try to find an original (for the time being).  If that doesn't work out, I'll reconsider the 5107.

Thanks again (Oh, and if you know anybody who needs to unload a Sears 72243 globe, let me know!)

Trucker, there is a larger 2 mantle sears green lantern that uses a 275-like globe but this one use a much smaller tapered globe.  2220B3DC-A16D-42FE-883F-63FEB488396D.jpeg

Actually Hans, is your lantern a singing or double mantle lantern??  Almost looks like you have 2 different lanterns in the 2 pics. There is a single mantle  lantern and a double mantle lantern. One uses a small tapered globe and one uses a large tapered globe

Edit:  Yeah the pics you posted are of 2 different lanterns requiring 2 different globes!!

ok, I don't have the Sears (mine is 2 mantel) and the 275 sitting next to each other at the moment, was just going by the tapered shape of them.

Originally I'd posted two photos of Sears lanterns (avocado and baby blue).  I didn't know that they had different globes.  I'm looking for Avocado Sears 72243.  Pardon the confusion.

No problem. There are probably @ 50 different sears lantern models and they all have different #s. And while there are probably some smart people out there who know all the model #s, I don’t know a single # of the 20 or so I own. Anyway, what I’m saying is you’d probably be better off to show a pic of the lantern that you need the globe for. That way you have a better chance of getting the correct globe.

I had one with a broken globe a couple years ago. I took a 5107 globe, masked it off and sand blasted a band around it like the original. I't looked great and was cheap to do until I found an original.
If a little is good, more is better, too much is just right

I may end up doing that if I can't find a new, original globe.

Thanks for the input.
