I got this 4/29 QL from the Ernie Hiatt collection and I’m curious about the frame. Is that a lighting hole ? There was no mica when I got it so I can’t say if it had a lighting door on it or not. There is also no notch on the frame to add the fuel. Is this some sore of transition piece.  Any help would be great22A07B2B-B0B9-4693-B077-262B7E7E7F5F.jpeg

During that time period, they were producing the L220/228 slant lanterns as well. That frame is stamped for the slant valve. Others here have quick-lite lanterns with the same base.

I thought that too but all my slants don’t look like this.

There was a thread awhile back about that frame. Most of them were 4/9s. I think I have 2 like that.

These are stamped for slant and then later stamped
again to repurpose for Quick-Lite and Sunshine Safety.  They can be found in every month of 1929 to disperse of the soon to be slant extinction.

Notice there is no half moon cut out for Air/Fuel filler that all 327/427 frames had from about 1921 up to 1940, Slant did not.
