I started collecting Coleman stoves and lanterns 2 years ago. The last year or so I have slowed down on buying any thing. There are so many different lanterns and stoves I could never collect them all. By chance, I came across a Coleman Roadtrip propane grill (9949 model) for free. I went and got it. It was filthy, didn't work, but it was free. I spent about 4 hours cleaning it up to where I wouldn't be afraid to eat off of it. Then on Youtube Market place I found a griddle that fits it at 1/2 original price so I bought it. I realised I enjoy working on grills far more than on lanterns. So I am shifting my collecting from lanterns to the different models of grills and griddles, to all propane or butane. I know that propane is looked down on here like a red headed step child, but one must follow his desires.

We have as many propane lovers as we do haters, here on the forum. Follow your desires, that's what collecting is all about. I am a professed propane/butane nut. Love the look and the simplicity of them. Good luck in your new collecting adventure..Russ..

While I greatly enjoy my Coleman LF appliances, there is a a place in my heart for LP, too. The Bernz-O-Matics, in particular, have a certain style that I like.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

Propane has its own set of advantages and disadvantages so - do whatcha gotta do.

I find liquid fuel stoves/lanterns less expensive to run and not so complicated after a while.

It's nice sometimes to take my small isobutane stoves, compact mostly for weekend backpacking.  Since I usually take my dog, saves some space as he doesn't always get saddled with his pack if we have a water source at the destination and I pack his food too.

What's it running up there? Is Crown brand or other brands of white gas available?

WOW! That does make propane more attractive. What about your kerosene prices? $27.99 a gallon is worth setting up and distilling white gas from pump gas.

I suppose if one can run their profane gear on a 20 pounder, your cost is comparable. It's always good to have options.

Kerosene is $15-18 / gal but I don’t use kerosene for my kero lanterns. Only my wickies. Fir kero I use 50-50 mix of diesel / rug best mix. Works out to $6/gal

I run as much as possible off my little 2.5 gal Coleman Bomb. All the adapters needed are easily available on line or at a propane dealer--cheaper online.

The stove adapter is unregulated, and I can easily turn all three burner up to eleven! The Bernzo Port-A-Light runs fine unregulated.

Holy crap! $15-18/gal for kerosene is unreal. It's $3.75/gal within walking distance from my house.
What are the penalties for smuggling CF and kerosene into Canada? Lol

It's not just Canada, Our little town has one place that sells lantern or lamp fuel. Some off brand name and it costs around $14.00 a gallon. The only size kero they sell is one gallon cans and it is just as expensive. The town just lost it's grocery store to a fire Christmas morning. Total loss. I'll have to drive 18 miles one way to get any produce or meat.
