Decided tonight a 5/51 CA 249 was on duty.
I'm out of DA so decided to use CF (I've use bits of broken up fire lighters, snapped up bits of matches, anything that burns before...)
Sucked the CF into Coleman's kero pre heat bottle and applied to pre heat cup.
Now even with DA there's a bit of overflow and flame so you don't worry.....

But I did wonder how long the flame would last once the mantle/lantern was operational lol.

Less CF for pre heating next time.
Sweet little lantern that always performs. Love it!

Stay well and light them up for a Friday night.

Put some tiki torch wick in the preheat cup for a more controlled flame.

Nice 249 light up. I like the beverage insulator too.

Coleman made a kero lantern that could be pre-heated with kero.  Basically they had a screen over the pre-heat cup that kept the kero from sooting up the lantern.  I experimented with it, put some metal screen over a 237 pre-heat cup, and it worked just fine.  Now I'll have to try the same thing with CF.

That looks very like a 'Hold my beer while I light this...' moment. Glad everything worked out in the end though![sEm_oops2]

I'll stick to my blazer hand held butane torch. Still have to take the vent and glass off though.

I think the 206 was the only one with the patented kero pre heat cup.
I was lucky enough to pick up a very nice one that had only been test fired by PO, it's so nice that it has stayed that way since I got it 🙂

Whilst the CF pre heat wasn't as vigorous as to be "Grab the extinguisher "scarey, I did pick up some more DA in town this morning 🙂

In my state, the powers decided that denatured alcohol (DA) was bad for the people to pre heat their lanterns, so they banned it. I now use Acetone to pre-heat my 2 kero conversions. Acetone works well and burns clean, leaves no residue. I'm thinking of buying a gallon; before [IT] gets banned also.

I know without asking what state that is. Products are disappearing with no warning. The last was mineral spirits. Before that denatured alcohol. before that VMP Naphtha. They were trying to ban Tru-oil.
My fear is that Coleman fuel is next, as soon as they discover it is naphtha.
