Hi everyone, I haven’t been around too long on the forum but have restored a couple of lanterns via powder coating. I have a few photos on a vent from one of my original posts here to show how it’s holding up. This lantern is powder coated in blue. It gets use here and there my young kids enjoy sitting around with the lantern burning and telling stories. All of the lanterns I have had professionally coated. The company does rims, engine parts and numerous projects that people bring in. The base has held up perfect but the vent cap is the only spot that has had a couple of burn offs which no one would ever know. I have approximately 40 hours of run time with longest burn time of 1.5 hours at one sitting.1984FEB8-D568-41C4-860E-0352B1497EE3.jpeg 99FD9A89-6C53-4AEA-BC58-DC6BD6C31BBA.jpeg 1984FEB8-D568-41C4-860E-0352B1497EE3.jpeg 99FD9A89-6C53-4AEA-BC58-DC6BD6C31BBA.jpeg F1E100B9-8C0C-4657-B907-12415E76B5E9.jpeg 1393D14D-08CA-4633-87F8-DD48F13EAC89.jpeg 5F0D49E4-9625-478D-B590-A3FAD9B31E0C.jpeg 099FAE85-0CE4-4F60-936F-AB1FD111F2B0.jpeg

Vent looks like it's holding up pretty well to me. Thanks for sharing.

I like the color blue. Were they able to Powder coat right over the porcelain or was there some prep work to it first? Thanks for the photos.
Ken.
Looking for Bday lanterns, 10/83, 11/84 and 10/2011.

All of the lantern parts were soaked in some type of chemical stripper down to bare metal. Not sure the product but it was in a huge tank that can take some pretty large parts, car rims etc.
