I have had this sitting around for years, have tried to sell it and even give it away with no luck.

It has a nice 2mm hole in the bottom where it rusted through.
So when a friend asked about a lantern for inside the camper ...
I did the unthinkable ...

I spent  a lot of time fishing the wires, and enlarging the fuel passages to pass the wires through.
I found a 12VAC led bulb that I liked the shape of and it fit perfectly in the burner tube, I have a suitable power supply for it that I'm wiring up

There are a few things I would do differently if I ever did something like this again,
but I honestly didn't plan this out ahead of time, I just did it and luckily it worked.

Now to find a fuel cap for it, I have a few sitting around somewhere

That’s awesome! Love the color too. At least she still shines on as a lamp!

Whoa, that looks bright, John!  I vote frosted globe, eliminates the harsh shadows.

It's a lighting trick. LOL. It's only about a 20 watt equivalent bulb.

Yea, tweak the exposure time and will look like it’s running on kero!  😄

That's really nice, John, I like that color.  There was some type of electrical cap that fits 242 filler necks that would be just right, for cheaper (albeit without the screw in the center), but I can't remember the source of them.  I think at one time they were even mentioned here on the CCF, but ???

I think that looks great,  If you would have told me ahead of time you were going to paint it purple I would have been hesitant but it really pops and looks fantastic.
Searching for a 8 72 lantern and/or 2 68.....

Thay paint colour really pops! What a great way to repurpose an otherwise broken lantern. You did an awesome job with that girl! No issues running it indoors now hahaha 🙂

That is a great idea everybody that's been collecting for much time at all probably has a bad fount lantern.  It's a good way to bring them back to life.
