My brothers youngest is getting ready to start his senior year in high school in the fall. He has decided to go into the Air Force after school. He already went to MEPS and swore in. My father and him were going to the Fort Wayne Airshow this weekend and asked if I wanted to come. I really enjoy airshow and was looking forward to some fun time with family.

Once we were there my nephew told us he had to meet his recruiter at the airshow. When he came back he told us that they wanted to do a public swearing in for them at the airshow. The kids and families were escorted through the VIP area and out to the flightline. They marched them out in front of the Thunderbirds planes and the commander swore them in in front of an airshow crowd of tens of thousands. Afterward they invited us to watch the T-birds perform from the flightline. We ended up having the best seat in the show. I know it is a great PR opportunity for the Air Force, but what a wonderful way to begin your service.

It was a great day all around but the clouds made photography a little difficult.

The photography may have been challenging, but you handled it well!

Congrats to yer bro'!
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

It was there as part of the Tuskegee Airman exhibit. "By Request" P-51C. From my understanding it was on static in Montana before restoration.

What a great way to begin military service!  Good luck to your brother and all the enlistees.  A squared away looking group!

I stand and salute those young recruits sworn in to serve this great Nation when most just complain about that they don't have. May God bless and protect every one of them.

That is awesome Andy, it looks like a few of  them are in for culture shock hair cuts 🤣 This is a relatively new recruiting tactic, one of my g’sons just finished his junior year of HS and he has joined the National Guard and will be spending his summer break in boot camp. My little hunting buddy better score well in marksmanship.
Please don’t take my military recruiting comments as negative, only an observation, that’s why I was somewhat surprised when he told me.
When I was his age and you got in trouble with the law, the judge would give you a choice, go to jail or join the military (Vietnam Era), then it was if you don’t have a HS diploma don’t even think about signing up, now they are signing them up before they are even eligible for a HS diploma.
Again don’t take my comments wrong as I am very proud of him for signing up.
