Been working on some pretty rough CQ lamps.  Several required removing the burner caps as the screens were toast.  I noticed they had two screens in each cap.

Two of my lamps that I run every night run very well with one stainless screen in each burner.

Is there an advantage to having two screens?

I've seen a few older lamps with two screens, but they were never salvageable.

Hmmmmm?  Now I wonder if some of my more fitful lamps would benefit from it?

I always thought it was the lazy way to replace a bad screen.

no , most all oldies i know of used the two screens , helps prevent back burn like a spark arrester and creates a little back pressure , at least a bit more than one screen .

So Steve do you recommend running two screens?  I seem to have good luck with one but may have better luck with two?

Would have to hold my mouth right to get the at 45° Dr rio m each other.

Thanks Steve.  Like Dominic, I've got many that run flawlessly on one screen, but there's always one that wants to act up.

This might make things boring.  I'll have to give it a shot.

Well i vote two. I put this lamp together with one screen.  It would burn without mantles for a few seconds.

I put two screens on and it naked burns until you turn it off.

Seemes to me that if Steve says use two you need to use two.
