I am about to buy a Northstar, but I dont get what is the difference between the Northstar 2000 and the 2000A.

I keep finding both, but see no diffenrences. I did try to search here on the CCF but missed the explanation.

Please, can someone show or tell the difference and maybe give a hint of which to buy?.
Thanks
Greatdane

Only difference I know of could be the early ones had a black cage and on later ones it's silver. Not sure if that's it.

I don't know the difference but will take a stab at a possibility.  There is a version of the Northstar that has a button type pressure indicator in the pump knob. Neither of mine have this feature and the only box I have shows mine to be a 2000A.

Edit to add that my dates are 2002 and 2005.  Both have silver cages.

My northstar is a 1/96, it has the button type pressure indicator in the pump knob and the black cage, its marked model #2000 right on the lantern.

These button type pressure indicators, are they like the pressure-pips as seen on the Tilleys?

Its right in the middle of the pump knob, it pushes up when the pressure has built up. 004.JPG

Looks great Chris.

I just ran my NS on a 24a as well this past week camping.

For anyone looking to get a used Northstar, just be aware that some of the NS 2000B750 models were subject to a recall by Coleman due to an incorrect gas feed tube installed. See here. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2014/coleman-recalls-northstar-lanterns#:~:text=Hazard%3A,posing%20fire%20and%20burn%20hazards.

I saw that recall, and I'm really curious what they mean by gas feed tube. The phrasing makes it sound like a generator with the wrong tip.

It sounds exactly like some 639 feed tubes got mixed in the batch since without pre-heat they would over-fuel whatever they are installed in.

I actually prefer the 290 fuel feed tubes in my 639's. Makes it light more reliably when running CF in them. Doesn't 'stop' it from running kero of course.
