So any thoughts on what campsites we should be getting?

He said all are good, I think we should focus on a group of sites. No one wants to be on the far side of the campground away from the group. That defeats the purpose.

The best sites are the loop sites on 10-14 and 18-19..
13, 14 18,19 21,22,24 are eight in the creek..nice if you like the water and mosquitos.
41-45 are super nice..trailers and rv’s will have plenty of room.. the sites are HUGE and lead down to the creek. The same 67-70.. super nice!!
The tents sites are awesome!! 54, 55,56,57,59,61,63,65..
32,34,36 are also super nice for smaller rv’s tent trailers..

11,12,13,14, 18,19 look closely grouped and there is common area by 11,12,13 plus the open area between 13 and 18/19. All of these are rated a #1.

Hi guys, so I talked to one of the rangers stationed at the park. They have a really nice museum and stamp mill at the campground and are involved every weekend educating the public on all kinds of issues. So far, it’s not for sure yet, but most likely can happen, is they said if we want we can set up a table at the park museum and display as much Coleman stuff as we’d like and can give presentations on it also! Pass out flyers, history stuff, get people interested in collecting and the forum. I’m sure a couple hundred people will come by..so if anybody is interested in doing this, we have an opportunity to do it we we want.

Sites by 49 which has a couple spots for tents away from the picknik table and fire pit, are a short walk to each other, I believe site 53 is a walk-in site, but off the road parking, away from the road, nice spot in the shade and tent site. Will get a few pics resized in a little while, just got back from Wades Lake.

I know I'm going to be sorry I missed this camp but can't be helped.  Must have been 18 or 20 years ago my son worked at the park in the blacksmith shop for the summer.  Beautiful area and cool at the elevation.  Hope you guys have a great time.

If anyone wants to make the trip more worthwhile due to the distance, I may camp three miles away at Ross Camp the Thursday before, can shower at the CG on Friday then. It is past the Park CG, along a narrow, dirt, rocky road. I know some like to come a day early. There is a vault toliet there, so not totally primitive unless they didnt pump it out last year, only one table there though, which I would hope to snag before anyone else.

Well. Keep the defensible space. And have water on the ready. Having water on the ready saved my brother in laws place during Oct firestorms.
Seems drastic, but dont be afraid to drain those LP tanks if you have to leave. Those are just trouble ahould a fire move thru.

Yea, my tank is next to my trailer and garage. I have a genny with my breaker panel in the garage set up to just flip the switch from pg&e to Duane. So I'll have my well until the pumphouse burns down.
Just heard a siren come down from Bucks Lake, so maybe that was the FS crew coming down. Fingers crossed. Normally CHP or a ambulance going up.

Fire down the canyon along 70, burning where a fire went thru a few years back. Down by Storrie I think, cant find it mentioned on Inciweb yet if it gets big enough.

PS: Murphy Fire, holding at 100 acres by Belden. 70 down to one lane, PCT closed. Supposed to be a music event there this weekend I believe.

Air has been very good this week, very little smoke, even my misadventure down the canyon had good air. No ash either. Still been hot. If you have a fishing license you can fish in a few spots, may be hot to try the hike up to Grass Lake later in the AM.

Anyone have any LP 2 burners they would like to donate to our scout troop? Bring em along. Thx in advance. Ill bring some items for trade if need be. Like the one in the pic. Thats what we prefer due to the size. We also have a lot of parts cause they are kind of a crappy stove and break. Well the Scouts break em. Of course, they break everything. LOL. I am still in. I will be in Site 48 Thursday night. I am bringing the same trailer that I had at Death Valley. Spending a few extra days due to the travel distance. The site is at the intersection right after you cross the bridge at the creek. I will look for you guys in the upper loop around site 50 Friday evening. From the other posts, that is where it looks like everyone got their sites.

Mornings are down to 41, 42 so bring a coat, shorts for later.

Site 34 pics, present occupant and picnic table, around 30' for parking. Third pic site 48, paced it off, about 50' paved driveway, good shade thru midday. Last pic site 49, enough space for two trucks, three, two man tents, maybe one a bit bigger, wood chips over tent spots.
Campers need to check in at the museum, CG is another mile further. Park office is in the museum, go in the door, hang a right. If arriving late, check in the next morning. Not much over flow parking at the CG entrance, about three spots, more back at the museum in the dirt, over a mile away. Nice showers, free. Nice sites in the CG close to the entrance to the right.
I'll bring my camping gear Friday afternoon and set up, not sure how many gpa's I'll have. I'll try to park by the CG entrance or bring my bike and pedal back from the museum. Air has been good, clear for a few days now. Morning temps last few days low, low 40's, 39 today. Still in the 50's at 10, but warm before 11.
