Forgive me for asking what may be a worn out question, but I have tried searching and only found one source for re-plating.  Is there a list somewhere of people/companies that re-plate nickel founts?  I am redoing a 1-51 200 fount and the brass is showing through all over the place.  I would appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks,

Try the facebook groups; there's a bunch of folks who are obsessed with re-nickeling everything.  I've got my opinions on it but that's not what you asked. Good luck in your search.

Thanks, while many of us are on both, I find that the responses that I get from here are more genuine. I will go there if I have to.

New England Plating does fine work and they are experienced doing lantern founts.

Many of us have also used a plater that Murff found near him. I think it's Show Quality Metal Finishing in Seatac, WA. I think you'll spend $100+ on your fount.

A 1/'51 US 200 would be a good candidate for re-plating. Fairly scarce and beautiful in the original condition.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

I was hoping I could bring the nickel back to a reasonable finish, but the fount seemed to have a yellowish tint even after washing with soap and water, and the brass was showing through after 2 rounds of EZ off and some hand polishing.  Original condition is no longer an option, I guess 69 years of whatever environment it was in worked over the nickel.
