Well it's official my son Lou has been bit by the bug and jumped down the rabbit hole with the rest of us he was looking for a 243 after Al (alb23t) purchased one.  Lou was on a mission to find one he set out on his own to find one when he came across Josh Culp (squeezeics) I'm told he politely asks the price and Josh asked if he liked blue lanterns and he answered yes so Josh gave him a small Higgins.  It made his year! Now Louis is autistic and really come out of his shell here and made a good friend in Al (alb23t) and I could not thank Josh or Al enough!  Al helped Lou get it running and Lou could not be happier here's a couple of  pics of Lou

That's fantastic!
The pic of him fueling his lantern is very cool, so much going on in it. That pic needs to be properly printed and framed so that when he's a father and later an old crusty collector he can show his children and grandchildren where it all began.... one summer weekend away with Dad.
Excellent times!

Excellent! And a very nice Higgy, too!

But filling a lantern that close to running lanterns makes me cringe....
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

I saw him shortly after he got it.  He approached a group of us and proudly showed it off!  I told him I had one also, but his was better because it had the correct handle and a special globe.  He grinned and nodded and went on his merry way.  Too cool.

Well on Monday he took the lantern to school to show everyone and soon after I recived a email from his teacher asking if he really fixed it on his own I told her he had some help from his friend al to get it going she said he's been  talking about it since he got there and his free time was spent looking at Terry Marsh's web site.  I think I'm in trouble and now have competition in my own damn house!  It's cool though I'm glad he's got an eye for the good stuff

That's great, Phil, nice to see he came home with something he likes.  Sorry I missed getting to talk with you, but I did stop and chat with Tammy as she was making supper on Friday evening, and it sure was nice to see her there.
Great you ALL made it to Gettysburg!

That's awesome!  Starting them young.  I have 2 and 4 year old daughters that I had at ECCC this past weekend that think its fun to look at them.  I hope I can keep their interest as they get old enough to actually get into it themselves.

Update on Lou and his lantern.  He took it camping with us at the end of june he lit it up it ran fine for a while then it must have poped or something and blew out the bottom of the mantle and proceeded to catch fire it scorched the frame, the collar. And melted the valve wheel before  I noticed that it had done this I got it shut down but the damage was done he was heartbroken but immediately said to get on the forum and get the parts to fix it but I have a really rough kamplite to part out to so soon we will fix it to run again.  Now check the classified section for his next lantern that me and Tammy are looking for to surprise him  for his birthday on Aug 30th.. Have a great day everyone
