I finally stumbled upon a pretty decent '64 237. It's crazy bright and I like it!

They are the most addicting thing in the Coleman world.  I had never seen one in person until four years ago - now am swimming in them - make a bold and bright statement.  Congratulations!

I was surprised at how sturdy they are built. An industrial strength lantern for sure.

Try lighting one of these without the mantle. They look like a rocket.
Turn it off right away if you do try this.

Thanks guys. So you think I did all right if I got it for $61 on the evil auction site? Not one person bid on it the last two days.

Canadian made nickel/brass fount.

Wichita pretty much started cutting costs and used steel and painting founts instead of nickel in the early 1950s..
Seems like it was cheaper for them to export parts from the Toronto factory.
The very few nickel plated models  "Made in USA" (1950s and 60s)  for the most part had Canadian made parts and "assembled" in the USA.
Toronto stopped using brass and nickel in 1970
