Bought this 285A700 today.
Tried firing it up with the unleaded petrol in the fount but no go.
Found the cleaning wire was bent over and it broke off while trying to straighten it.
Not wanting to wait for a replacement and not having any silver solder for repairing it I used a 639 cleaning rod .
I had to shorten it and re-bend the bottom end.
It lit up just fine with the modification.
Used another globe and vent for the light up.
The gasoline lanterns are not too common here.
Only other task was to dust the vent.
It came with the spare made in USA 214 globe, a few mantles and the funnel

Andrew,
Nice find and repair. What year was this manufactured? I would have not passed this up if I saw it for sale. Enjoy.
