Murff
Black powder coat and a black IPE vent January of 1960 228E:

[20190703-143552]

[20190703-143600]

Wasn't sure how well a vinyl decal would do under the fuel cap, so it got applied "Canadian Style":

[20190703-143609]

[20190703-143627]

The black looks pretty good on a 500A stove, too:

Wow, I'm going to do this! Really like the black on both the lantern and stove. Great job!
Just looking again at the picture of both setting there. I think you should use on both the same decal as the stove has.

No way.  That decal is way too straight to be a job from the Canadian shops.  😂

The last time I had any done they were in the $30-40 dollar range. It depends on the size of the vent and how much work to get the old coating off.

Looks good Murff!

That looks very nice.  The black certainly dresses up both the lamp and stove.  Well done.

I like the look of those. I agree with eaglescout72. The borderless decal looks right against the black.

They look great!  It does seem a bit odd to me now that Coleman didn't do black lanterns early on.  I wonder why?  They look great, would have been the cheapest color and hides dirt and fuel stains well.
Searching for a 8 72 lantern and/or 2 68.....
