I have an item I'm selling that will be double boxed, so I have some flexibility in the final box size. It interesting that 5 lb.'s shipped in a 16x14x9 goes from roughly 13 to 46 bucks. Make the same weight in a 16x13x9 and the rate goes from 7 to 15 bucks. On the high side of the shipping quote the 1 inch increase triples the price and the low end still doubles the shipping price. These are e-bay quotes with USPS priority mail. I'm going to start logging where these big jumps occur, size wise. I've noticed on some boxes that I reuse that the sizes are less normal 1 inch increments, like a 7 1/4 x 9 1/2 x 8 1/2 for example. I'd guess the big shippers have all the price points down pat.

UPS, USPS or FedEx?

USPS seems to have a huge jump for a box over 12" in any dimension.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

LOL, Yes if you stay under 12” on any dimension you are golden. There seems to be a big difference between 16” and 18” length. You should be able to get us an answer on this one John 🤣

I figured that you would have that down to an art John. 😁 After all, you are the resident post man. We'll let it slide. My wife is a carrier as well, and I couldn't begin to tell anyone what's what.
