My 1st lamp. With a few parts provided from another member it fired right up. May need a little tweaking and experimenting with fount pressure and mantles selection. Running ok.

Now I need to start the hunt for a shade. Do these all run very quiet?

Usually a CQ is pretty quiet.  If you really raise the pressure it might get to the point where it makes more noise, but no more light.  They have a pleasant hiss.

There were a couple shades in the classifieds that'd look right on there.  One might still be available.

Careful, those things multiply like rabbits... At least around here. Quicklites are my double mantle of choice, mainly because of their smooth, quite, and simple operation. Nice lamp ðŸ‘

The usual term around here is Lamp Loon, welcome to the madness!
Several lamp outlets offer replacement 329 shades, which was one of the most common on these.

When you start running out of room on every flat horizontal surface in the house you can hang most of them.  Just be sure to keep them up high enough where you won't find them with your head when walking around in the dark.

I'm not shy about hanging a big heavy CQ with a shade.  That's what their hanging rods were made for.  They also make great reading lamps.
CQ user with Amish globe holder and paper shade.
Who says you can't use a fabric shade?  Just hang a mica globe from the shade to protect it.

Your lamp has a beautiful shine and will look great in pictures.

Thanks Steve but I fear its to late. Got another one today. Paid 9 bucks for it and it may not be salvagable.  The threads on the fuel tube are ruined. May try to cut it shorter and rethread or try some kind of slice.

Be careful on the quest for a shade.  I now have several more shades than I have lamps.   And yes, CQ's run nice and quiet.   Very soothing if you ask me.
