I just got this 242A and I was running it when the pump came unscrewed at the bottom it took a bit to fish out the leather and the nut had came off the end also there are these two washers that look like they don't belong I have never had a lantern with is type of pump so I don't know. I can see replacing the leather could be tuff its crimped on to it mount.

i make repos of those Mike :-) its originaly how it was done on these and the NL . just looks like you need some, oil on it . now those two extra washers donr belong there . the cup assembly floats on the shaft so air can enter on the up stroke and capture air on the down stroke . kinda quirky but it works . this was before hollow pump stems .

Mike, OCP sells the replacement leather with metal plate for those pump assemblies mine was rusted really badly.

From what I could see with this style if the leather or metal plate is shot you can't easily separate them.

I don't see the required part on OCP's web sit but when I checked my order history I can see that the part number is 242-518.

these also use a rebuild able NRV instead of a CV Mike . they almost always need a new pip .

I busted a spring in my rebuildable NRV so I bought a new reproduction one from OCP.

I accidentally bought two. One of them wouldn't thread into my lantern which reminds me I need to talk to OCP about it.

Won't linseed oil set up hard and brittle?
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.
