Picked this up today in Greensboro, NC. Interestingly, the other most recent find was also in Greensboro by @Fj40z.
More pics tomorrow

Here's a couple more. Pretty rough shape, but with these I guess you take what you get.  It is also a 6/72, and full of fuel.
Is it supposed to be clocked like this?  Assuming it has the offset valve bung.

This one was on ebay and only showed up on my radar because it was local, else I would have never seen it. And even then I had to do a double take but the description did say a 72 220H which was a dead giveaway, so was slightly surprised it lasted as long as it did.

I had forgotten about these until you posted this one... I kept thinking 220G for some reason. Nice find ðŸ‘ thanks for sharing.

That's cool! I can see how it would be easy to overlook that unique feature. Good catch, Carlton.

Nice score.  I found mine in Mooresville, NC.  It was once-fired in box with papers.  I believe the total is now up to 10-12.

I have found myself doing a quick glance at the ribbed collar lanterns to see if the tip cleaner is 180 degrees off from the valve wheel. Which is how the ribbed H’s were built. I found this a little more than a year ago at an estate sale in Wichita KS. E8358D0E-C00E-4535-A8C4-84168F7E56CE.jpeg

I like to find the ugly rare ones. First a 459 now this. Not lucky enough to find/discover a 216 or 221, but it'll do!

Time to display my ignorance.  Are the ribbed H's rare?  Seems like I remember one or two, somewhere.  I'm afraid I'm pretty much hooked on pre 60's lanterns, but since I can't pass up a $5 lantern I might have one stashed somewhere.

Definitely rare, Steve.  So far only 11 have been documented here.  Read through the thread below from the beginning for a pretty good discussion.  Larry (Coleman54) is the original finder and documenter of these.

There's also a guy who replied to my Facebook post who has one, and he claimed he thought it was nothing special so his is likely not counted in this thread.
I'm guessing there are many more, but still a very low number variant.

Definitely a great score Carlton!! It’s nice that the ones pictured here are all clocked the same as this would add to it not being tampered with by a previous owner. I’m definitely going to be paying more attention to the ribbed collars with a tail from now on 👍🏻

@ecblanks

I’m wondering if these were made specifically for Roses and/or K-Marts. I haven’t done any research on how far Roses chain stores reached into the country. I know for sure there’s 3 Roses stores within a 50 mile radius of me that are still open and have been in the same locations for the last 35+ years. Seen where a fellow posted one he had with the box, and it had a Roses sales sticker on it.

It's as a good a theory as any.  Interestingly, the seller I bought mine from on ebay also has a 6/72 220F for sale.  I'm guessing they were bought at the same time.

The ribbed collar 220F/228F continued stamped into 1/73, the printed collar 220H/228H has also been found stamped 1/73 & 3/73.
