My 1981 mil-spec has it's original box to rest in but my old 1945 Coleman did not and that didn't seem right so I made one up for it.

Hello all
Id like to get in on this group. Here are mine all found locally in the last year except the 523, my dad got it from a neighbor a couple years ago. Some of these I've decided to let go of but this is what I started with. The 1977 Armstrong is my favorite, only because it was made here in my hometown. I'd love to find an Armstrong 523 eventually to complete the set.

If I can get #0651 in honor of my father, Its his birthday and he served in the Navy on a destroyer in the last years of Vietnam.

Thank you to all Veterans,
Mike

How likely is it to ever find the case for a 527?

I have a 1952 and a 1969 as of now. If this is still a thing I’d like number 1278
On the 1969, I know the clips holding the fuel cap and funnel aren’t correct. Currently looking for something similar.

Hi Tom, love inquiring minds, coz I got one of those, somewhere. Here is the bottom of the fount. Looks to be dated 969 which, I believe is September 1969.

Now if I fantasise, I could delude myself in thinking it could have been with the US forces in Vietnam when I was there ...... mmmmm if I fantasise further I could have seen it lit as well ........ gotta love fantasies.

Joe, please may I have 1970 .......

It could have been there. At least it was somewhere in inventory when you were there.

and it's a Coleman, sweet.

I have 3 that served same time I did, all SMP lanterns.
I have 6 milspec's, but only 1 actual Coleman ('65)

Thank you bridd!!!  This is too funny.  I put a pic of my Mil Spec in my post above.  This was the worst mistake I ever made since I started collecting in 2007.  I asked about this, but no one knew much about it.  To save the font, I stripped it and painted it.  After I posted pics, a member told me it was early WW2 and I totally destroyed any 'value' it would have had by painting it.  Live and learn.  I still love it though. I try not to burn original glass...one for showin', one for glowin'.

Question for the panel.... whilst not a official MIL Spec, is the "US" stamped steel fount 3927 AGM made for the military a cool enough kid to join the gang?

Hi Joe,
I have no kiwi MIL Spec items and haven't seen any, apart from an old stove painted olive and suggested use by nz army.
I think if I want a Coleman MIL Spec I would have to import as haven't seen any here.
Here's the 3927, Terry Marsh has them listed as produced for the military and steel fount suggesting during the war, the civilian model had a different number which I can't remember at the mo.

@Barrett I’m not a moderator or founder of this thread I just took on updating the list when HappyKamper said he was to busy to do it anymore. That said I checked out Terry Marshes site, he wrote “Model 3927 is another lantern produced for the military.” Also going back through the thread I found Kmot mention he also had an WWII AGM . So I will issue you a number. Any available number you would like?

Hi Joe, that's cool, I was interested whether the AGM was accepted as an early MIL Spec or not. I guess if it is to be allowed/enlisted to the group, then if not taken, number 3927 seems appropriate 🙂

Cheers
