Just picked this up and trying to figure out the model.  On the Terry Marsh site, it appears to be a 140 BG, but the mica inner globe is not shown on the 140.  Not sure I want to mess with it much, but I never pass up something this cheap.  I have looked in the Technical and Technical Archives and found a bit of information, but do not want to start tearing into this without more information.  Anyone have one of these and know of a tear down and rebuild post I have not yet found?  Thanks for any help you may provide.

Hey Tom
Just recently tore down an Akron 133 lantern that appears to have the same generator.  Be real careful with it, as they are nearly impossible to replace.  If it working right now, I would not mess with it. Other than taking the pricker out, the generators can't be worked on like a Coleman.  If I get it back together successfully, I will post some notes about it.  Right now I'm trying to clear the gunk out of the font.

Willy, thanks for the response.  Guess I will do a little cleanup and see if I can get the font to hold pressure, then see if the genny passes air.  Don't want to ruin anything and not real sure I want to stray from collecting only Coleman, but the mica globe was worth the $1.00!

Hey Tom
Something else I found weird about my Akron generator... The tip cleaner control does not continually spin around.  When the tip is at the top, the control will stop.  Reverse direction will lower the tip. See if you can see the tip wire come out of the tip, I use a magnifying lens. I had to take the tip cleaner out as there was no air coming out of the clogged generator tip.  The tip of these generators are soldered on, cannot be removed.  The tip cleaner wire was bent up like a curly que too.  Managed to carefully tease it straight,
Keep posting as the project continues, These weird APGs are interesting little beasts.

I'll do a little work on it, hopefully soon.  I also picked up a very sun faded 228D 1-57 that I have apart, so it is my priority.  I'll keep you posted on any progress and thanks for the information provided.

Nice Akron lamp! If the generator is gummed up, take your time with it! I believe they can be successfully cleaned out. It just takes alot of patience and soaking with intervals of heating.

I broke it down yesterday.  Main valve and pricker rod seized, but freed up fairly easily.  Unscrewed the generator and was able to blow air through it.  Think I need to to anything else to the generator?  Tank has a lot of rust so cleaning process is ongoing.  Who knows?  Might get this lit someday!

Great photos.  I have done some cleaning, but not there yet.  Hope to get back to it soon.
