So here's an old gal with a $7.00 globe of unknown heritage I got from the last Strickner's auction. Coleman 21's tied above the cap to mimic 20's.  20200701_143609_resized.jpg

That's a really nice looking shade.  It's good that a lot of these shades from electric lamps play well with our GPA's.  I know most folks want Coleman provided shades only,  but I'm one to go for shades that I find attractive, regardless of who made them.

If I had to buy a Coleman branded shade just for the fettled CQ'S I have I would have no Old Chicago beer budget

And I'd be happier to find just one BQ lamp than a pile of Coleman shades.

AQ's, BQ's, PQ's etc. don't fall out of the trees around here like CQ's do but they're findable

In my 5+ years of collecting, I've only found one CQ in the wild, and it was left out on the back deck for probably years judging by the condition of the nickel.  I keep looking, even though I've stopped collecting several times this year already.

Wow. It is surprising to hear someone say that. The most common thing I ever see where I'm at is the cq.

Around here they give you that 'oh, not again' 220f feeling.

It took rural electrification a while to catch on in flyover county and Canada was even longer my guess would be.
Coleman and competitors had decades to get their products out there.

I think most of it is my location, which is roughly nine miles from NYC.   This isn't exactly an outdoor adventures mecca.   Although thorium, I assume for mantles, was processed in my town which is now a Superfund site.

I guess we all owe you for your thorium contribution!

Here is my project BQ from the Jahn/Snook Auction.  Fount on left is Swiss Cheese on the bottom, the one on the right appears sound and rest is nearly complete.

I was thinking one was ok. You know the arm is soldered on and comes off easy,  might be handy having it and the plate. Maybe the pickup will come out too???

I would suspect a ad in the classifieds would correct that situation quickly! Three years ago they were everywhere local and the big dummy I am ignored them. Now they are nowhere to been found. I was lucky to acquire a few in a large pick.

I frighten easily!

My current shade is Coleman!!

To me a lamp without a shade is creepy!
