Hurricane Douglas bearing down on Hawaii. Not a big one; hope we only get some needed rain.  Cool pic from the GOES satellite this afternoon. douglas.jpg latest.13.haw-zoom.jpg  And here's an infrared pic a few hours later.

Hang in there, I think Florida and other SE residents would still be out in their lawn chairs sipping tea.  🙂

It looks like the big island will only be brushed, but the others are in its cross-hairs based on this one hour trajectory:  https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/conus_band.php?sat=G17&band=Sandwich&length=12

Hope it changes direction!

I have much empathy for those dealing with hurricanes. I left Florida 14 yrs ago for exactly this reason. Now i sit back, drink tea and watch hurricane season on TV and am glad it's not me.

Looks like the north half of the island of Hawaii will experience wind and rain.  Hope everyone is doing ok.

Fiji has fireflies. Synchronized fire flies. Like an entire island flashing in unison. Don't recall any at all in Hawaii.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

I hope you'll be alright, Bill; maybe take in lanterns hanging from the porch roof, though...(just guessing that you even have that. 🙄)

Hope you stay safe. I've never experienced a hurricane. We don't have hurricanes in Illinois, only their distant cousin, the hurry cane.

Thanks guys, we just got some needed rain here on the Big Island.  Maui County did ok, but windward Oahu and Kauai are still at risk with 85mph winds approaching.  No fireflies in Hawaii; but we do have fires and flies.🙂
