It's been dry here. Real dry. But I got out to one of my local honey-holes today and had a decent score:

[50201064582_2d87df7662_b][50200797851_14bb1b6021_b]

12 of '64. Not too bad, either.

[50200797936_fcd4464cce_b]

Yup, that's the burner screen sitting there in the frame base. So I guess I gotta fix that first.

[50200797911_4e8f293ff7_b]

Fortunately, there is still plenty of rim, so all I need to do is peen it back down. Photo is half the rim peened back down over the screen.

[50200254418_bbe464454a_b]

Done.

This will need to be re-nickel-plated:

[50200797881_46d15f40b0_b]

and I need a bail--thought for sure I had a 200 bail around here somewheres.

Now, re-paint or not? Decal is pretty much gone.

Oh, yeah, paid $10 for it. It hurt, 'til I was back at the rig and saw the globe was a sunrise. Very faint, ghosty even, but still worth $10.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

My work woes were due to loss of electricity--why would I electrify something else?

I have the WWII USN Battle Lantern, converted to LED and rechargeables. What more do I need? Makes for a heck of an anti-boarding weapon, too!

Now, who wants this fine lantern?

You're repeating yourself. I'm kinda used to it, being as I hang out with a bunch of old people. Why did all my friends get old all of a sudden?

@D421 what did he say in his last post?
My friends don’t call me “Lantern Levi” for nothin’,
if they did call me that.

Looking for bday lanterns 8/38, 8/41,
10/25, and 8/07

The biggest lie I tell myself is
”I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember it.”

It's all cool! I've been known to electrocute the occasional rotted-out lantern!

Nice find. I have one of those faint sunrise globes. If I look for the logo I can find it about 1 out of 10 tries.

not looking for any more Bday gpas. Honestly, if you have a 10-72 don’t let me know about it.

unlike us, those single mantle red lanterns keep going and going and going, despite some pretty harsh treatment.

I'll have her prettied up and running again tomorrow. But the big question--repaint or not? Gotta paint me up a cap for it, anyway. Oh, yeah, and plate the pump cap and knob. Maybe not tomorrow, come to think of it.

I guess it all depends on what you intend to do with it. I'm a fan of original up to a point. If you are gonna go through the trouble of re-plating the pump, I would prep, prime and paint

The fount after a good scrubbing with Dawn, a wipe-down with mineral spirits and a wax job:

[50207627091_4d04b77fd4_b]

Pretty bleached-out paint, and a lot of it missing and still loose. Repaint is seeming more likely--or just put it back together at this point and put it up in the Classifeds for someone who needs it. I'd have to move something out of the cabin to make room for another 200A.

This entire lantern was soaked in some thick oil, like maybe 30wt. It took some doing to get it off.

I'm thinking I'll let this one go. I'll just rebuild the gen and prove that it runs. I'm keeping the sunrise globe, of course, so I just need enough to make it worth my time to pack it. I'll think on it.

12/'64 has no special significance to me.

I'd meant to get it running today, before the main beer 'fridge broke down. Got that fixed and now I'm too lazy.

I've got 4 just like it fixed up for Christmas presents this year. I give them the choice between short vent 200As or 502s... So far all 4 brother in-laws are leaning towards the 200As... Something about red lanterns ðŸ˜
