I see lots of new people! Howdy!
After going through yet another bout of life chewing me up I'm back among the socializing members of society. For those that know me I'm no longer with Frito lay. Long story short, I made good money and was approaching 20 years of service. Combine those 2 things with I started when they still offered an actual pension and I'm no longer employed by them. That was a almost 2 years ago. It took me a good long while to shake the bitterness. And of course I lost my house and so on. I made it through all that with my sobriety intact.

I accepted a machinist position with a small company in Jacksonville Florida. Machinist/ repair everything that's broken and so on. Small companies normally can't afford people with my experience but I'm close to both of my brothers now so it's a good trade off. I stay busy, every day, all day long. I actually have a desk thought I'm not at it but three times a day generally. I've thoroughly enjoyed the time with my brothers and the last year and my Lord the fishing we have done.

I have missed the GPA hobby but most of all I've missed the people. Sometimes you have cowboy up and stick to only the most important things. I'm starting to tinker around a bit with some GPA stuff, have actually been somewhat active on FB.

I actually managed this life ass kicking without loosing my Coleman stuff. 98% of it is boxed up, but I still have it.

Well, howdy people that have joined since my last visit! And a big howdy to the peeps I know. My this place has grown!

A blast from the past. Welcome back, Kelly!

Do you still have your beautiful collection of old sewing machines? I remember some of your old posts showing some of them. The mother of pearl and gold inlays on them were exquisite.

Warren I still have something for you. That little gauge is quad boxed. Lol. I'm not kidding . Smaller than an egg but in a box the size of an apartment fridge. When the poo hit the fan I had time to make sure it got well protected. When i get to unboxing stuff I will send it to Greg along with the wrench I narrowed for it if you want.

Yes family is awesome! This is the first time in 28 years all three of us are within a few miles of each other. My two brothers are the greatest men iI've ever known, aside from our dad. To know all three of us feel the exact same way is unimaginably humbling. Something I didn't mention is about 4 months before I left Frito my oldest brothers wife took her own life. I of course was on the very first airplane out of Indy. I was here less than 16 hours after it happened. The next day my other brother and myself cleaned up the aftermath ( yes, that aftermath ). In the following 4 days we packed up an entire 3 bedroom house and moved everything to storage. The first 2 days of that we worked in shifts between not letting our brother out of our immediate site while the other was over there packing stuff up. Warren, brother I need prayers because I'm still very mad at that woman. I'm very happy to say and see He's doing a lot better. He just closed on and moved into a house a month ago. Of course he's going through some of those boxes so it's hard on him. He still has days he's a big mess. But he has both of his younger brothers to help pick him back up and keep on hoofin. So yeah, being here for him is definitely for me.

Thanks Keith!

Yes I do but most of them are still in Indiana. I have some of them here. They are heavy and take up lots of space. It's a pain in the rear to make a 1,000 mile move. I'm planning a trip soon to visit my kids. I will be bringing a load of machines back.

Donnie : Thanks! One thing life hasn't been for me is dull or boring. Ha! Heck, I left out the part that I somehow ( my luck ) got some bacteria in my system that turned into a nasty blood infection which caused me to go septic . Spent 4 days in the hospital with that mess. A shout out for the nurses at Jacksonville memorial hospital, top notch. Truly amazing ladies. Thank you for the kind thoughts, I'm humbled for sure. And aside from my family and the good Lord above my sense of humor is what keeps me from going bat scat crazy. It helps that im so shy, quiet, timid , meek, mild , docile and un- opinionated. [wink] Better move on now so I avoid the lightening bolt I'm sure I just summoned.

Steve: Who can forget " purple pump leathers"! The ex wife thought that was the dumbest idea in the world. Purple is actually my favorite color so purple Kelly is fine by me. Lol.

THE Oregonmichael ! Thanks my friend. Bad pennies don't have anything on this ole boy.

Randy: you're certainly welcome and thank you. As you can tell I'm at home here. These cats will tell ya I never do anything half ass. Lol.

Agostino! How are you my friend? When I moved from Indiana to Florida the very last lantern that got boxed was my beautiful petromax I got from you. I remember I had arranged to buy some other lanterns from you and then fell out of sight and touch. For that I owe you an apology. I kept reminding myself to let you know I wasn't going to be able to honor what we arranged and then things got so hetic but that's no excuse. Thank you for the warm return .

Joe! Dude, have you seen the dragon in the kitchen! Lol. Birds of a feather..... I have missed this place , a lot. Thanks for the kind words my friend.

Hey Kelly, welcome back, I curious if you got the autoclave you told me about. You offered to meet up with me in Illinois after picking it up, but I was having health issues and couldn't take you up on it. I know you had spent years working to get that and were really looking forward to it. I'd love to see pics and hear about that.

Glad you're back!

Thank you! Well..... HECK YEAH I HAVE THAT PUPPY! I still haven't had a chance to play with it. I ended up having it shipped to me from where it came into the country. It's freaking awesome! It has all the original spare parts. It's here in Florida with me :) I will get it uncovered this weekend and start a thread about it. And, I have to figure out how to resize pictures...it was literally the week I got that thing that life started a downward slope. I've kept it covered up because for a good while it didn't bring good memories. But I've come through it and ready to tinker !

Sorry to hear about your health issues. Hopefully things are better for you now.

Looking forward to seeing that, is it a Coleman brand? Maybe I should wait as it will be a huge wow to most here. Sorry to hear about your brothers situation, glad you could be there for him. I relied a lot on my family in the last few years, things are much better now. Had a melanoma scare, removed and gone. An open heart surgery the next year and last summer got a cochlear implant so I can hear again. All the docs tell me I'm doing great!

BTW my oldest brother is a retired pipfitter, used to work on large pressure vessels and has quite a collection of sewing machines, is that common in your field? I think he got into the sewing thing to make his own climbing gear.

Grant: The stove that runs it is a Coleman and it's a beast ! I'll make sure to post plenty of pictures. Thanks for the thoughts for my brother. Sounds like you've had your fair share of ups and downs! I'm glad you are better! Yeah, I know two other guys that work on pressure vessels and do sewing related things on the side .Maybe there's something to that......

StanDahl: Only out of necessity. You people can't get rid of me that easily. Lol

Steve: Lol. I'm glad you are still here. I'm my normal me so all is well.

Dean: Thank you sir. I've been waiting on " I'm not buying it" lol

Dan: Dan, my friend. Ya can't kill those things. I still have all of my tooling and may return to making them. I'm undecided on that. Glad to see you are still enjoying the hobby.

Jeff. I'm not sure either but I don't recognize the name. Thank you for the welcome. And most importantly, thank you for your service, sir.

Mike: Hey pal! Thank you! It's good to hear from you as well. Are you still making tools? I'm thinking about making a few lantern vices. I still have the one I got from Ernie years ago.

Ctp51: Thanks you , sir. Yep, doing lots better. I love this place.

Agostino: whew, glad to hear it. Yep, spring is almost here. However I never noticed winter show up in Florida so....... These people crack me up with what they think is cold. Lol couple of months ago I went through a drive-thru and the lady at the window handed me my food and said " try to stay warm" It really caught me off guard. I thought " what,it's 57 degrees ". Lol.

From the bottom of my heart, thanks everyone for the kind words and welcomes. I'm off for the evening for I have some studying to do. I've added NCCCO certified crane operator to my list of certifications but we no longer have anyone that can legally drive the dang thing so.......The pains of a small company. It's a lot to get used to after 20 years with PepsiCo/frito lay.

Jim: Hey there my friend! Thank you. Bud it was a rough one this time. Leaving Frito really did a number on me. I suspended my FB account for over a year. I reactivated it less than a year ago but didn't start posting again until about 2 months ago. I didn't know Bob Meyer passed away until I seen the post on here last night. But I'm lots better now. It's good to hear from you.

I've read this whole stinkin' thread Kelly - good to have you back. The last I remember from you were those awesome sewing machine pics that Keith mentioned.

I'll be glad to send prayer up for both you and your brother. I've been up close to suicide and it aint' pretty half the time and sad all the time.

(Still gonna take side bets on how long you stick around here this time!)

Chuck, thank you. Very kind of you. Those machines sure are pretty.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the prayers and thoughts. That means a lot. We need em. Especially him. He has no idea that I'm still mad at her for this or ever was for that matter. The woman had her doctorate in mathematics and was a very published author with a lengthy tenure as a mathematics professor. ( She kept her maiden name for her books ) She was no dummy. And to boot she took her life 2 weeks before my son's wedding that I officiated.  My brother was in no condition to travel and certainly not to a wedding and of course our other brother stayed in Florida to take care of him. I should probably shut up now other than to say thank you again.

( I'll put 5 on short term, 10 on mid and 50 on extended stay, now we need to establish time frames)
