@maddawg308 It's going! Thanks!

A few thoughts if you're considering one of these Amish Conversions. First off the vaporizer will be bent oddly, don't straighten it out like you think it should be or it won't go back together right lol.
Secondly, the vent attachment gets a little getting used to but the mods allow a Coleman 220 size globe to be used so that's pretty nice.
Lastly that Schrader valve is the beans! I have a Harbor Freight high volume T-handle pump and 4 pumps puts you up to the red line with the Schrader valve. No pumping it 87 times with the built in pump.
Anyhow it got new viton o-rings from the hardware store and I cut the pips and foot valve seal from left over material from the Aida fettles. I broke the little stud in the middle of part 193(foot valve seal) that the pricker rod rides on and had to drill it and make another from a finishing nail. I'm going to keep an eye on that and may have to tweek it a bit. My preheater torch worked when I first fired it up. My vaporizer nut was leaking and I had to shut it down to tighten it. The preheater torch wouldn't work the second time so I'm going to have to check the orifices in it again. Thankfully this one has a preheater cup too. One cup of DNA wasn't enough preheat because it flared up a bit at first but then settled down nicely. The bottom photo was right after the flaring up and there were black spots on the mantle still. Top photo is after it settled in. It acts like it may drive a bigger mantle though. A Lighthouse 625 mantle is on it.  My local guy has a larger size, I think the 710. I'm going to pick some up and see how they do.Resized952020082695220125.jpg

Looks pretty bright from here, Rusty, nice work! Thanks for the advice, too.  Got a Hipolito here I need to work on someday. although it's not an Amish conversion.

Hey nice fettling there. I have one too and almost complete and serviced but the mixing tube and gas chamber were totally unserviceable and need to buy those parts. I’m building this for my aunt in Mexico and she will be running this on diesel.

This one will get some diesel if I keep it around. The current production Coleman 639c or single mantle kerosene will run on kero, low sulpher diesel, charcoal lighter fluid, tiki torch fuel, camp fuel and both kinds of pump gas in my testing so far. If you want to give her a true multitude you might consider one of those. But that Hipolito will run on all but the camp fuel and gas. I'm waiting on cold weather to do some diesel testing with the anti-gel additive in a lantern. Get her the Schrader valve adapter and a high volume hand pump as well. You'll be the favorite nephew for sure.

That Amish conversion looks interesting. I've never seen one in person. Nice job on that one.

This is my first one. I'm kinda hooked. That Schrader valve is the best thing ever. I'm about to convert some of my Colemans to the Schrader fuel caps.

Bought two Hipolito's from eBay not long ago, one wasn't Amish converted but came with Schrader pump cap and no pump, well I have ended buying an Amish converted Lantern for parts and is like the one are you working now. I'm going to fixed this winter because right now it is impossible for me and will be disabled to lift more than 5 pounds for 3 months. I'm looking at your progress and please test it with diesel and let me know lol, I am impatient to put my hands on any lantern and get it back to life 😄

The frame conversion also works for a 236 globe. Ask me how I know...

It will get diesel next tank but I don't anticipate any problems as the Aidas both run on it just fine.

Kerosene is not available in Mexico and white gas is really expensive there so my best option is to get my aunt a good working diesel lantern. They already use diesel for wick lanterns but they are not as bright as a pressure lantern.

Forget the health issues inhaling the fumes, they live in a little village up in the mountains and their home isn’t air tight, air flows from outside to inside without issues.

Do they have low sulpher diesel or the older regular kind? I haven't tried the old style stuff because it is off-road only and has the red dye here.

@Pancholoco1911 here she is running on low sulpher road diesel.
It takes an extra pre-heater cup of alcohol to heat the vaporizer up enough but it's running great on it.
